How Modigate has transformed the Modi sarkar into UPA III
by NG Nileshwar on Jun 29, 2015 08:03 AM

Is that so? In fact, I perceive this as an eye-opener. The rot that has set in needs to be cleansed. I do not suggest to take a stand of holier than you but such exposures need to be used to correct the system.
What’s the hurry, the movie is only half done. Clearly, whichever party is in power, the Govt. needs stability. We cannot go thru rigors of another election, as the same rot wld be back. The kind of deeply embedded politician-businessman nexus needs to be rooted out.
Over-exposure by the media is another factor playing a crucial part. It is not its duty to ensure that the minister resigns but to present the facts of the case, weighing pros & cons of the story. This will project vindictive aggression and wld backfire.
Modi has an opportunity the start the process of cleansing by placing the facts before the Parliament, which I expect of him during the Monsoon session. Merits & demerits should come out & no prestige issue made.
The BJP silence may be appropriate considering the roar of the INC. The press is more or less silent of the remainder of Opposition, which is an indication. Of national debates on TV are only for TRPs and conceal the real issue. So called exposes are just one side, where the anchor guides the debates to his discretion.

Let us all come down to earth from the high moral pedestals during debates and think of nation-building rather than the other way.

Our Laws are full of BIG BIG loop holes
by Ashim Ghosh on Jun 29, 2015 07:34 AM

Whoever made our laws have ensured n number of loop holes to enable crooked, corrupt and money powered people can escape the law of the land. While the helpless and poor are harrassed and made to suffer in jail for no fault of theirs. Judiciary and executives along with media worked in tandem to create this Lalitegate circus. What these people were doing for last 3 years?

Shielding the culprits
by msubramanian tdr on Jun 28, 2015 10:28 PM

Shielding the culprits is a grave crime than the crime committed. Taking of earlier crimes and justifying the present crimes is also a grave crime. Punish the guilty irrespective of their stature which will create confidence to the common man. Sidetracking the issue is not at all appreciated. Common man is most interested in the price situation which is alarming now.

Do not get carried away

From all that has transpired perhaps we the voters have to learn a few things:

1. Improvements in governance if any will be incremental, no matter whom we vote into power. We must not get carried away by demagoguery

2. There are misdemeanours other than just financial corruption, such as morally wrong decisions taken by Ministers and providing aid to known fugitives from the law. Such behaviour cannot be defended as the BJP has done, but must meet with appropriate punishment.

3. The biggest let down for the voter is probably finding out overnight that the BJP/SS/SAD is just as bad as the Congress / DMK/ NCP when it comes to misbehaviour and hoodwinking the law by Ministers.

1. true
2. I hope "appropriate punishment" will be ONLY decided by Judiciary, not by media or opposition parties

One simple question to Arnab...
by kuttan on Jun 26, 2015 11:58 AM  | Hide replies

What is the total loss to Government of India or Rajasthan Government due to the acquaintance of Sushmaji and Vasundhara Raje.

That is a big Zero.

But both are born rich and do not require this droppings from Lalit Modi.

Unlike Raje, Lallu, Pawar, Kalmadi, Bahen who were virtually poorest of the poor and swimming in Millions using tax payers' money, these two ladies are born rich.

Motor mouth Arnab will never answer such question. He will pick up the signed copy of any of these ladies and will go on arguing.

Even today as I am writting under the table money is being paid in each transaction of all PSU's and Central Govt departments. You just name a department of central govt in which officers and clerk have stoped taking bribe?

I agree. Now the demands are higher due to higher risks perceived.
Also, the changes will be incremental was known to BJP as well as AAP. Then why these parties indicated directly or by implication that changes will be immediate? It seems that even this govt will take 5-6 decades to prove that it is not different than any other govt provided they are able to convince public that it is previous govt which is responsible for their failures.

Loss need not be financial. Loss of credibility and integrity also count.

A Joke
by Surendran on Jun 26, 2015 11:29 AM

I agree with the supporters of Modi. But some questions make me a little unsure of myself - 1) We criticized Manmohan Singh for his silence , but Modi does the same on all issues- Does that mean that PMs are not supposed to speak on controversial issues?? 2) A blot is a blot and the best thing to do is to ask the concerned person to step aside till proved non guilty. While this takes long in India , an option would be to make a statement laying bare the facts of the case and move on and ask the accusers to go to court. But while doing this the answers should be convincing which is not so in this case. 3) Why is so much importance given to Lalit Modi?? he doesnot even have a background of a good businessman withn the industry and family. All he has done is become something like a Kerry Packer in Cricket and created a fancy dress cricket competition. Are me saying that here cricket is more important than defence , industrialization , development , jobs , agriculture etc that this issue takes national stage over all others?? 4) What is all this support for the UPA and the congress?? Are poeple ready to listen to a party that has 2G scam , Coalgate , CWG scam , Fodder scam (since lalu now is in congress scam) , Immoral scam ( ND Tiwary and Digvijay Singh) scams and scams?? The only reason they should be listened to is because they are the biggest experts in this country on how to run scams and be proud of it .
But all this aside , it does not help to have a silent PM............
