Languages that are endangered. See the numbers around the world
by nagaraju on Jan 02, 2016 01:13 PM

Many of these are the variants of th existing languages. For example Kuruba, Kodagu, Santhala, Soliga etc are the variants of Kannada language. These are spoken by tribal folk, mostly. Besides the languages quoted above, Sankethi, Tuliu, Konkani etc are also facing extinction threat. It is only for the sake of preserving and posterity and educational purpose , these are to be saved.

All the countries in the world on top priority should take up the most onerous task of appointing a expert concerned language experts to keep those particular languages even if they don't have script to get it scripted either in English/Hindi/sanscrit .Those scripted languages should be printed thousands of copies and should be distributed to all the libraries in the world so that even after thousands of years,at least some copies wild be available for researchers and the concerned tribal/sect people in the world,as keeping in only selected libraries is not going to help in the generations to come,as eventually they wld be lost .jeediguntagoa

Sreerama do you know the name of even one langauage listed above. These are all spoken by minority tribes with no documented grammar and no literature avaialbe. Today in urban society, even the most populous languages such as Bengali, Gujrati, Tamil marathi etc... are used only for general conversation with englisg used in between... besides that they stand no position in education / business and are shared with english in legal and government work. Even the importance of these will diminish slowly over the nest 100 years ... and you are talking of conserving these languages. See... the government will do nothing nor will anybody else.....!!!!!!!
