Obama's lecture on Indian constitution
by Syz on Jan 29, 2015 12:49 AM  | Hide replies

It was very stressful and disconcerting to watch Obama's speech where he is giving lecture on religious freedom and Indian constitution. In spite of being offered the best treatment as the head of the state and the head of the government, at the end of the day he gave a big slap to our face. A foreign head of the state and the head of the government is giving lecture on the failure to implement Indian constitution standing on Indian soil is very distressing to watch and shameful for the Indians. Not only that he talked about Indian social problem such as crimes against women. All of these are domestic affairs. This is not a matter to be ignored. It should be seriously discussed. In no other occasion any head of state ever said the same thing standing on Indian soil and that even after being offered the best treatment ever. Why did he choose to do that? I hope BJP takes a good look at that and corrects itself. People around the world are watching and our pride of being the largest democracy and freedom of speech are in serious doubt. I personally feel very ashamed after watching his speech.

After all I have read what you have said...the only conclusion is that your religion and beliefs have to be respected and protected no matter what. That you will no give an inch but ask a mile from others in the name of constitution, religious freedom, humanity, personal beliefs etc. That even educated people like you will never question validity of your religion based on scientific facts and proofs.

It is stressful and disconcerting no doubt. It is not because of what he said, it is because he did so without any shame. This was because he is used to thinking of India as a slave country. And who made India so impotent that anyway can say or do anything and get away? It was the congress party, the secular of all seculars. Secularism makes people weak, useless and gutless. As long as the majority was being brutalized everything was fine. The moment they said something, whole world jumped at their throat. What is so severe that had happened? Some few conversions? Someone asking to have more babies? This is enough for someone to come and lecture us? We cant even utter anything? What about the rest of the religions? Did he ever lecture Saudi Arabia about the rights or minorities?

It is this uttrely weak image that we have created about ourselves as a community that is responsible for this. BJP should do course correction based on what Obama said? Which gutter do you live in? Do you have any self respect left? BJP should do a billion times more and not only BJP each of us have to do it.

Freedom of religion means freedom from religion. Learn the real truth.
Religion serves no purpose, other than taking people into total deep
and dark backwardness as is common in Islamic countries. Just grow up.

I truly agree with you. Religion has no place on humanity. However, being a religious or non-religious is a personal choice and right under the constitution. We must not violet that.

Other than Mooselimes, the whole world is secular and nobody is violating
anything. All are least bothered about religion. People are just reacting
from time to time, to combat Islamic madness, which drags the world down.

Less Talk and Work on the Catch-Up
by Confused Mind on Jan 28, 2015 11:13 PM  | Hide replies

We are learning to evolve somewhat to the level of our colonial masters.
This catch-up will keep going on forever as there is huge knowledge and
technological imbalance. Not only there is huge imbalance, we are also
not aware of the fact that all the knowledge we have from our own past is
mostly irrelevant and defunct and causing more harm to us than any good.
Of course, we are all trying to do the same thing. Come as close as
possible to Western science, technology, culture and civilisation.
Whoever is getting more closer wins. Let's keep pushing to catch-up ...

It is a perpetual cycle of humanity...once eastern civilizations dominated in your aforementioned subjects, today the west dominates. Ultimately the rational and scientific mind and hence civilization wins. Please remember, the British were once known as barbarians for nothing, and they did not come to India to civilize us.

Indians will never understand that they are somewhat civilised today because
in every field science, technology, discipline, military, schools, colleges,
universities, medicine, sports, English language unification they are somewhere
because of the British, and that it makes sense in continuing those civilized practices.

If it is so, then wherever the British went they should have left a trail of prosperity. But that is hardly the case....They played their games for their own benefit and continue to do so. Are you telling me they had no negatives at all? Slave trade, colonization, racism are all gifts of the White, british man too!

The British gave some science and wisdom, everybody continued on that path even after freedom, and today human civilization is probably is in it's most prosperous and enlightened moment.

I have no doubt there is some British contribution, but you have to understand that it all starts with scientists like Galileo and Copernicus (both not British) disproving Biblical statements. Contributions were also made by revolutions like the French, and American. We were introduced to Western scientific thinking by the British, but that would have happened even if the French, German or others would have ruled us....Any how I feel it is time to dump blind beliefs and concentrate on hard facts and evidence...in short become more scientific.

Everything is invented by the West and we just try to
copy. That too make poor copies. And then make statements
like the purpose of Eastern philosophy is knowledge and
not pleasure and happiness. As if the Western world is
into pleasure and happiness and not knowledge. Just
accept the West has won and the East has lost and move on.
Learn what? Vedas, Ayurveda, Astrology and Quackery ...

Quality education and technology will come without joining NATO. We have develop internal strength and remain flexible in our foreign policy. We have to smart, be like a mirror...straightforward and honest with an straightforward and honest country, be cunning and be a master of duplicity with a cunning country.

Whatever interpretation make, no issue basic issue is that Modi-BJPO for the first time have come with absolute power after an interval of 30 years, Young India has seen only extortionist politicians or adamant or caste or hate spreading politicians for their vote bank. After an interval of 30 years-people of India has given Modi absolute power. This is biggest achievement of the last election. World also is recognising him due to this stable condition. Young generation will see the Charishma for the first time. Let us wait for 2-3 years. Things are bound to improve.
