Since 1975 the first thing when i got the Times I wanted to see R K Laxmans cartoon. It was refreshing. Its like summary of the the news. Nothing much has changed with the politicians and bureaucrats till today
Asany of my fellow readers have said. Its end for the common man as nobody can ever show the Indian common man as R K Laxman did. He will remain the best.
It is not known is there anybody left to portray the common as was being done by this great legend. His recommending the common man to stay in Moon may be one of his most astounding portraying of the Indian common man who is able to survive without shelter, food and water. In other ways he highlights the irony that the government here is not able to provide drinking water food or shelter to its citizens, but still they desire to conquer moon. True the government here must take a lesson from European countries where they are interested in the welfare of its citizens than the craze to conquer moon, as if we are perfect here, but want more exploration. Really with the demise of RKL he is burying the interest of the common man as well. Let more sense prevail upon our leaders.
