DOMINANCE OF BUREAUCRATS
by Jagjit Ahuja on Jan 13, 2015 07:03 PM

They are the lords of the ring. No one can touch them . They have all the powers without any RESPONSIBILITY , ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY. Had these three elements were built in their service conditions , India would have been a far better country.
There would have been least corruption at lower levels
The urban areas would not have been so shabby with filth alround
Judicial system would have been stream lined
Politicians would have been more responsible to play their role in a democratic set up.

DOMINANCE & CORRUPTION
by wilson chandran on Jan 13, 2015 05:52 PM

No one like DOMINANCE. When there is no dominance no necessity for tolerance. Rich agst Poor, Majority community/Religion agst minority, Powered agst unpowered, majority language agst minority language why parents agst children, Teacher agst students Boss with employees. In Indian politics some group trying to dominate minority religions and communities inclusive of languages - This would spoil definitely unity of India if continues. British united India from different kings. India divided into linguistic states, may this also a cause. Every individual want to be treated equally and get their share from the Govt. Mostly another dangerous thing to be looked into is corruption. National wealth and public funds are being looted with the collusion of POWERED.

Gandhi and nation
by arish on Jan 13, 2015 04:04 PM

No nation in modern world will survive as many locals have been converted to a sandy arab culture of hate and killing and destruction with the aim to get heaven after death,. This ideology is dangerous. It can be prevented when they ( local converts ) are treated differently. This is not normal thinking and once you isolate them and take away the right of the citizenship form these converts The national has chance of survive Or all will end up like Pakistan in next (68 yrs ) .

Mr.Soli Sohrabjee's speach
by gopalakrishnan caruthedath on Jan 13, 2015 03:24 PM  | Hide replies

I am sure, like me, several others will agree with the Learned Lawyer that along with rights, a citizen's duty/duties to his motherland and the society at large should also be defined and made a part of the constitution. Then, a lot of the current day's problems will get resolved. Fights between various communities will be less if not completely eliminated.

Will the parlimentarians seriously consider formulating a legislation to this effect ?

When nation let his citizen bow to enemy nation and adopt culture that nation has no future. Look at pakistn inlets 68 yrs all now have to bow to saudis land and respect the book of terror.

We create our own enemies through our intolerance and any nation that goes down the route of intolerance is heading for chaos .

nothing can be onse sided
by Mr Walker on Jan 13, 2015 09:17 AM  | Hide replies

tolerance is good but it cannot be one sided shown only by a single side while other is grossly intolerant

these so called intellectuals have to understand that the world survives on balance and anything taken too far is imbalance

tolerance if good if its equally practiced by everyone, else if one side is just tolerant and other is intolerant soon the first will be wiped out

so lets not preach the tolerant ones rather lets preach tolerance to the most intolerant ones who have zero tolerance for introspection in their own ideology

Please let us look at our own ideology. Mandela and Martin Luther King used tolerance to change the societies they lived in and so did Gandhi. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind..said the wise man of modern times.

One cannot be accomodating towards a people who
by Vishnu Sharma on Jan 13, 2015 06:54 AM  | Hide replies

Are fundamentally intolerant and will immediately refuse to extend the same tolerance towards you once they call call the shots.

One need to know some arithmetic before blindly extending tolerance.

Fools are tolerant regardless of the consequences.

What happened to minorities in Pakistan after 1947 ?
They have been reduced to less than 1%

What happened in Minorities in India after 1947
They are at 20% with the minority which demanded for Pakistan doubling their population.

We need work with facts and not with emotions or moral posturing.

When a nation or community has not defined its enemy that community or nation will never exist. Hindus/ and india have no enemy defined. No future for them ONE billions with no nation ,no future.

I don't believe that. The Hindus have survived for several thousand years but some today seem to be full of fear . If we create a just society for all without divisions there will be no enemy . Look at South Africa today ....it does not think interns of enmity whatever difficulties they may face.

tolerance for whom and by whom?
by cahobs on Jan 13, 2015 06:07 AM  | Hide replies

Nice article espousing the virtues of tolerance, and expertly citing Gandhi and of course the ancient texts. And the author very worriedly ends saying whether India would follow the same tolerance!

But which tolerance is the author talking about here and why? This article reeks of "secular" politics that Indian's have been brain washed for the last 60 years.

I am really doubtful about the articles timing - BJP/Modi doing a successful Pravas Bhartiya Divas!

I am all the more disappointed that Rediff still continues to entertain such ideologies. May be its time people showed how intolerant we are about such people and ideologies. ENOUGH!
