Too many bad, archaic and obsolete laws
by b.ramdeo@verizon.net on Jan 17, 2015 11:43 PM

There are way too many archaic and obsolete laws still malingering on the law books today..especially Section 295A.
Time has come to dump these 'laws' into the dustbin of history where they belong...and move on!

A Charlie Hebdo
by piri on Jan 15, 2015 11:00 PM  | Hide replies

cartoon contributor to the press :

"We have never criticised a Jexw because he's a Jexw, a Muxlim because he's a Muxlim or a Chrztian because he's a Chrztian. But you can say anything you like, the worst horrors – and we do – about Chrztianity, Juxdaism and Ixlam, because behind the nice slogans, that's the reality of Charlie Hebdo," he said

There are two interesting asides to his remark :

1. He tries to imply that Charlie Hebdo has also caricatured Judaism just as it has Chrztianity and Izlam. This is just not true. At best, the cartoons on Judaism that have appeared in the paper have been extremely mild in nature and very few in number as compared to those on the other two religions.

2. The eastern religions - Budhism, Hynduism, Confucianism, Taoism, etc. have been left out. This can perhaps be put down to the fact that Budhism is in general, more laid back in nature than other religions are and most of its practitioners rarely ever assert themselves intrusively in society - at least in ways that are conspicuous. And India and Indians may still be regarded as too irrelevant by the paper to carry a caricature on Hynduism !

The legal aspect of Charlie Hebdo has nothing to do with the content of the work. It is about fundamental right of speech. Human thought, as expressed in Arts, sciences, or in commonplace setting, needs to find room for articulation in an atmosphere free of fear. This freedom spirit said so well by Tagore, has to be safeguarded, by good laws and effective policing.

How is this case different from vandalizing MF Hussain's home and the artist had to flee the country fearing death. If we think it was the right thing that happened to MFH, would we still condemn this. Yes we would, coz we are hypocrites

two faces of some of the Brahmin Communist leaders
by aam admi on Jan 15, 2015 11:54 AM  | Hide replies

they love to enjoy the riches of their forefathers and inheriting property left by them but not ready to discipline their lives, so they joined communism to discuss any filthy things in a Coffee House and comments, but these leaders too love Americans way of life and some of them settled even in Europe and America to enjoy the comfortable life , but passing on abuses to Indian culture and its past never stopped , and this act even liked by Europeans too.
They intentionally created doubts in Indian past achievements and glorious traditions.
Though they have lost political Clout and influence in Indian Society but still holding many important positions in various places in Media and elsewhere , thanks to Congress and Nehru's love for so called love for Socialism, they still condemn the Indian past glory.
Communists are atheist and so they go on hurting mostly majority community who believes in non violence , but never dared to challenge Minority Community as they don't believe in Gandhian ways.
When they were in Power in Bengal and kerala they were equally intolrant and violent and did not mind to even kill the opponent.
Now they are preaching otherwise.

I love to think that GauMatas are being butchered - beef fry is so damxn tasty!

But I will argue to the end of the world that the butcxhering must be done in modern ways (stunning so that the animal does not feel pain, do the buthering in clean, well maintained and well regulated slaughter houses, etc.).

Indians are very tolerant people!
by Grizzly on Jan 15, 2015 11:50 AM  | Hide replies

But Indians will never let anyone take advantage of us!

Other religions can live in peace as long as they respect our culture and our values.

Otherwise, they can go to ppourkisstan or somewhere else.
