Shrihari, you stated that
by piri on Feb 16, 2015 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

you had given Rs. 300/- as wages for a day's work !

Vow !

And listen to this. Here in Kerala, no unskilled labourer works for less than Rs. 600/- per day. Often, it can go up to Rs. 800/- per day. And skilled workers like plumbers and carpenters get even more.

This is true. Once in Kerala, you will find that no one is surprised to see such wages. So much so that there are no less than 25 lakh poverty stricken, entirely illiterate and very vulnerable men from boondock states such as Orissa, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, M.P, Bihar, A.P and even Tamil Nadu working for wages ranging upwards from Rs. 400/- per day! Kerala is to these migrant workers exactly what the Persian Gulf is to Kerala workmen. Back home, they rarely ever get more than Rs. 80/- per day.

Now, this is my experience. You have stated your experience. And neither reflects the overall picture of India in terms of the average daily wages paid to labourers !

To know that, you need to look up statistics compiled by different agencies. Not for nothing are statistical methods and representative sample surveys devised and worked at. It is only the miserably ignorant and stupxid little commoner who will say that all statistics are untrue and that only their prejudiced impressions (formed from selectively seeing what lies in their immediate surroundings) reflect the truth about the whole of India !

Now, once again, ever heard of the NSSO ?

CMIE ?

And the UNHDI ??

And the CMIE ?

Reports of the ministries of rural development ?

Panchayati raj ?

Ministries of water, sanitation, child and women's welfare ???

No ??

Not at all ?

Make a start then. It might take a long time for you to come to grips with the horrendous situation that prevails in much of India and which affects more than 75 % of the Indian population !

Not reading anything beyond juicy headlines and seeing things only from the lower middle class ignorant commoner's viewpoint and letting that viewpoint become coloured with your prejudice is no way to understand things about a country as large and varied in nature as India !

Now, just run through what stances the RSS has taken over the years and decades regarding poverty (and all manner of deprivation that man can suffer) in India.

You might be surprised to find that, far from taking any stance, they have consistently tried to pretend that poverty and deprivation - and the gigantic quantum of exploitation that the thin segment made up of the upper classes subject the poor in India to, consciously as well as subconsciously - are not relevant enough to be talked about and that such matters ought to be hidden completely under talk about hyndu.......muxlim........hyndu........muxlim......culture........nationalism.......muxlim....hyndu......etc. !!
