What she will do when there is only negative points with BJP. The party itself is the product of negativeness. She is helpless.

Free elec?
by AK on Feb 03, 2015 11:22 AM

But did AAP say that electricity will be free? I understand that what all they have said is that electricity companies would be audited and fares rationalised. Isnt that a sensible thing to do? Problem is that, like the petrol pricing, most pricing in India are opaque and the public is never told about the actual cost. In TN for example, they want to increase electricity charges citing increase in fuel prices, while the fact is that the fuel, including coal, prices have come down drastically. On a closer scrutiny one finds that the whole excess charge (in TN) is accounted for by around 2-3 % electricity purchased from 'other producers"!
I dont think its a fight between poor and the rest, its rather fight between those who are ready to question the established system and those who dont want to and play safe.

Better for Poor
by nancy on Feb 03, 2015 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

It is better for middle class to carry the burden of Poor rather than that of Multi Billionares like Ambanis & Adanis who keep on getting subsidies through middle class paid taxes from all over India & then investing the same in Gujarat instead of nation.

A level playing field
by Vijay Sahani on Feb 03, 2015 11:11 AM  | Hide replies

It's the duty of the government to provide a level playing field to the poor and underpriviledged. The middle class and the rich who pay taxes (most of them grudgingly) don't pay taxes to get it back in some form or the other. Taxes are to be paid to provide a level playing field to all members of the society, especially the poor.

To provide basic health, education, shelter, food to the poor is the DUTY of all governments. Amongst the poor there could be geniuses like Srinivas Ramanujan, a Lal Bhadur Shastri, a Michael Faraday, a Howard Shultz (owner of Starbucks), a George Soros and even a Narendra Modi.

It's the duty of every government to provide succor to such "would be" geniuses during the initial difficult times.

Paying taxes isnt like giving out 'doles'. If one earns money, one is able to do so thanks to the country and its resources made accessible. In any country, the rich use far more resources -natural or otherwise - of the country than the poor. So, its justified that they pay higher taxes. There are countries where even traffic offense fines are calibrated according to one's income levels!

Observation

It seems as compared to other cities, people (voters) of Delhi are more corrupt and unreasonable. They get free money (being a political center), booze etc. and indulge in all rouge activities. No wonder, parties like AAP emerged from Delhi

Mumbai voters are the most reasonable, educated as they work round the clock.

Middle class
by MM on Feb 03, 2015 10:52 AM  | Hide replies

It is always middle class who pays the I-tax.
Hence the burden of money spent on subsidies (free pocket money) will fall on middle class

No wonder, AAP is mostly supported by minorities and lower-castes who always vote for the benefit of their communities than national interests

When you talk about middle class paying taxes and the burden of subsidies falling on them, are you talking of national interest?

The other day someone close to politicians in Maharashtra said that majority of the politicians are not bothered about the people of India. In fact, they feel educated people are a threat to them.

Draw your own conclusions.
