Great visionary, hit the stone rightly. Let us see PAK re-action. Talks are the only solution. Talks can only create win win situation for both the countries.

Whether he is a great visionary or not will be known after some years. But it may be so. Or he may be lucky. Let us hope so.

Politicians and Ambassadors
by on Dec 26, 2015 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

After independence and so far, our Politicians were following what was advised by Ambassadors without seeing the merits of the situation and the priority of the nation. However, Mr Modi has changed it to the requirements of the nation and situation which is a great move. In the past 60 years, especially during congress regime, the relationship between India and Pakistan remained in the the news, but today entire world, especially, Pakistan has realised that India has a strong government with solid leadership. So, they are also showing the change.

The article from Srinivasan is from JNU thinking intellectual. I don't see anything special in this article except heartburning of leaders whom he was playing second fiddle could not even think of some innovative way in day to day work. Rediff readers ignore the ignorants.

Modi and Sharif

The unpredictable Modi does things on the spur of the moment as will be seen ffrom his desire to have lunch in Kabul and Dinner at Sharif's home. Let us hope this extravaganza of sending his aircraft back and get another one will pay off. If some positive result comes out, well and good.

Let the 'visionless visioneries' like TPS know that only who dare can leapfrog and endure ! I recommend him 'Ashoka the Great' for the historyline. Let us firmly resolve to give PM Modi a chance !

I think TPS has written the bitter truth which we are finding difficult to swallow. Such adventurism with a nation which has troubled us for 70yrs is not going to lead anywhere. IK GUjral, MMS all tried walking that extra mile but Pakistan responded with a resounding slap on our faces each time. They come ahead for talks only when US pressure on them is high & claim legitimacy in front of the world that they are engaging India. Modis otherwise foreign policy has been excellent but his Pakistan policy has been completely disastrous. Such kind of birthday visits, sending shawls or a photo op in Paris is not going to change the ground reality. The sooner we realise that the better it is for all of us.

TPS and his range of diplomats on both sides, along with short-sighted politicians are the reason for state of Indo-Pak relationship.
They are all part of the problem and can never be expected to be part of any solution.

Only time will come up with any solution.

People like Srinivasan should keep silent now. Modi is trying to do something positive. Give him a chance. We do not need pseudo intellectuals giving their two bit ideas to stop something good happening. Their ideas have not helped all these years. They need tolearn diplomacy from Mr Modi.

Indo-Pak Relation
by Manabendra Pathak on Dec 26, 2015 10:35 AM

Political & geographical boundary is different from cricket or music. Pakistan speaks almost the same language that India speaks, Bollywood movie & Indian TV is most sought after in Pakistan despite that both the countries remain hostile. Unless there is a political solution these are secondary. One may agree if there is economic dependency that is business, otherwise cricket & music these are all few hours entertainment. I am not telling these should not be there but with that a war can not be stopped. So please stop talking about all these to build up Indo-Pak relationship.
