Juvenile bill
by Parthasarathy Krishna on Dec 22, 2015 10:10 PM

Shame on those who were demanding select committee review, while bill was referred to arS 20 times n asking now? Efforts many MPs n media pressure n Nirbhaya parents meeting leaders etc has shown the light. Sure it could have been made retrospective as the Bill was introduced few months ago, discussions delays due to which it was passed today.. Sure retrospective they could have legally gone!!

One laments why passage of this was delayed and why it is not retrospective.

REGARDING PASSING OF BILL IN RAJYA SABHA
by Satyendra Sood on Dec 22, 2015 09:26 PM

This matter of passing of this bill is not only joyous moment but the most heartening point is this that after spoiling full session of both houses ultimately some sense prevailed that too may be for some two or three days as who knows that the same status might reoccur for sessions due to come in future days.

Unfortunate

It is sad that the bill is not made retrospective. With so many lawyers in the bench, it is surprising no via media was found to make the bill retrospective

Even 16 years of age is not agreeable,as far as I am thinking, since the boys knows the result of such an act,at that age

Absolutely right. Does anyone believe that if a 10 year old boy commits this gruesome crime, he does not know what he is doing ? Of course he does and should be given the maximum punishment.

Unfortunately, both the High Court and Supreme Court did not stop the release of the Nirbhaya case criminal citing the absence of legal provisions, instead of using some common sense. The same Courts deemed it perfectly ok to release Salman Khan, making us believe that no crime itself had taken place and made a mockery of the entire judicial system.
