Real Problem
by Ajitkumar Pandit on Dec 14, 2015 03:22 PM

Real problem is huge inflow of people to cities. Slums or unauthorized structures don't grow in one night. Local municipal councilors, MLAs, MPs cultivate such hutments by pressurising officers. This is to create vote banks. One such example is Beharampadda & Nargis Dutt nagar at Bandra, a suburban of Mumbai. Thanks to Sunil Datta.
To prevent inflow the industries must be started in undeveloped areas. To sell their product & agricultural products it must be well connected. Modi government is exactly doing the same.
Media speak from both sides. They will publish the pictures of unauthorised huts while constructing & again if those are demolished.
One has to remember that only farming cant feed the farmers. The fields are fragmented after every generation. So good infrastructure helping marketing of perishable goods is necessary. But there too land acqusition is coming in the way.
There has to be a national conscientious on such issues.
Of course the people who suffered have to be compensated. My full sympathy to them.

Only Slogans
by H.S.K. Saheb on Dec 14, 2015 02:56 PM

A line has been drawn between the effluents and the poor. Bullet trains and the big talk of progress has not changed the ground reality.
The concept of middle class vanished long ago.
The stark reality of poverty is just white washed with political slogans and communal politics.

Modiji govt should come to reality. Bullet train and smart cities are ok? What about these poor millions may be running into 50% population are on slums!! Opening bank account n gas subsidy all ok??giving out hundred crores n thousands to states Bihar n JnK ok. But what about the slum dweller? It does not need rocket science n nuclear physics! We talk of IIT n iim to build but the slum is never in any body's agenda except during election?? Why??

The slums can be helped by only private sector?? As govts have failed for 6 decades!! Private companies must help build fire proof slums unlike the thatched roof and weather proof too!! Corporate can certainly adopt and do better job in this!!

Maybe this is the right time we talk about population control across all religion and states. Last time we heard about this is during SANJAY Gandhi. No Govt can manage to feed and maintain ever increasing population like us. No point blaming X,Y,Z govt.

Blame govt for not helping them but blame the authorities bcse of whim these illegal homes crop up.
They build a shanti, then take light, water, ration card. The plot is their own now.
They live without taxes and enjoy each and every facility.
They encroach land , build shanti and when SRA scheme comes, they become owner of flat.
I am not against them, they need help and who ever helps them on humanitarian ground is doing good job.
But fact remains what i said.

PM\'s intiative of LPG subsidy to poor people would mean more such accidents & fire, untill commensurate action is taken for safety, like introducing Composite cylinders etc
