Absolute nonsense to cry Secracy in impeding up the dialogue with an ever enemy country like Pak. Defence is something that need not be discussed in the media & make it discussed in public domain. The party which was ruling the nation for 6 decades cannot solve the perpetual Dispute talks of Modi Govt 's act in reopen ing the dialogue as "with ulterior motive" and hence they accuse of Secracy.while saying that no one will object to reopen, why the the author joins the gang that tries to blame action . Does it not look prejudice to Modi?

SECRET unveiled
by Ramamurthy Venkateswaran on Dec 10, 2015 03:53 PM

If the GoI announces its intention of engaging Pakistan on issues confronting them, there will be skepticism and if there is no communication from the government the press and the opposition accuses the government of secrecy. Fine, the Government of India maintained secrecy, and why should Pakistan maintain secrecy of the proposed NSA level talks in Bangkok? Has the Congress Party leaders when they were in UPA Government did not engage themselves with leaders of other countries on issues that are of vital importance to India? All along after the cancellation of scheduled talks between India and Pakistan in August there was wide spread criticism of the Government. When the GoI is engaged in discussions, there is still murmurs. If there is a break through, Shri Narendra Modi succeeds in his mission as Prime Minister of India. He has succeeded in breaking the ice between India and Bangladesh. Let us hope this current visit of India's FM to Pakistan brings out the much needed change in perception.

I suppose the San Bernardino shootings
by Harimau Iyer on Dec 08, 2015 01:48 PM

By two Pakistanis didn't have any effect.

One has to be an idiot to think that the US would not have told Pakistan to clean up its act after that shooting but instead supports Pakistan's adventurism.

But the world needs its idiots too.

Pak engagement
by Sam Thiyagarajan on Dec 08, 2015 09:22 AM

Whatever it is, the reengagement with Pak and starting of negotiations at some level has to be welcomed. International diplomacy has never been open and transparent and there were always wheels within wheels, which MKB knows too well. Meeting the Pak delegation is problematic because of Hurriyat factor and meeting in Pak. is unacceptable. In such a case nothing wrong in having the meet in a third country. Our NSA is known for his secretive ways and let him function in his own way and deliver the results. Too much emphasis on openness and transparency will only spoil the peace process. It will be a fodder for intrusive E Media and armchair commentators. Let us welcome the start whichever form it is.
