TWO EXTENSIONS AND RETIRING AT 58
by Thomas Philip on Nov 03, 2016 08:35 PM

Everyone does not get two extensions or even re-employment.The statement of the accounts man is incorrect. Also everyone does not get study leave.CRPF,BSF and ITBP are not doing the same job.In case of hostilities they are withdrawn from the border and the army takes on.

Sudhir Bhisht's version of OROP
by john MY on Oct 26, 2015 10:39 AM

It is one of the few disappointing article about OROP. Term misunderstood by the author and to create confusion among the Armed Forces fraternity. Offrs of the Rank of Major and below retire at 50 & 52 years. What you enjoy the freedom today is because they(soldiers) given their yesterday. Disabled veterans and widows on street asking for restoration of the deprived portion of pension, 73% to 50% and given to Babus (33% to 50%). Is it unjust? Shame for the nation when the veterans and virnaris on streets. No action Talk Only (NATO). Mr Bhist, few thousands cr can bring back Sepoy Hemraj\'s head from Pak? We got a strong govt. Think of many Lt Kalia. Selection in SSB constitutes hunting for dynamic leadership with (Physical, Medical, Intellectuals and Mental robustness) to lead the men to face enemy in adverse condition to protect you and me. Today 134th day of OROP protest! Please Justify your argument, Navrathri, Bihar Election, Diwali, what more?

Pension
by Prakash Bedekar on Aug 30, 2015 02:03 PM

There are thousands of those who cannot avail any benefit of pension like those working in small organisations, shops, workshops or in any such unorganised sector. A solution must be found out for these unfortunates for such benefits and soma solace in their advanced age

OROP
by Pradeep Saha on Aug 28, 2015 11:47 PM

while in service the jawans are used as butman for doing all the works for the officers and their families like a personal servant. today to get OROP the officers are only using the jawans again. had it been a case for only jawans i am sure only 1-2 officers would have joined agitation for tokenism. whatever you say this is the reality. Officers are even now much better paid. don't trust then see the HONDA cars that almost each officer possess. thanks to dirty politics of India we still have british baburaj and british Fauji Raj with colonel sahibs and major sahibs.

Trade unionists or mercenaries?
by Hirendra Chatterjee on Aug 28, 2015 08:56 PM  | Hide replies

The govt. has already conceded OROP. The problem is this miniscule group of ex-servicemen masquerading as representatives are behaving like trade unionists and mercenaries. They want revision of pension on an annual basis. For govt. servants it is once in 10 years. Modi Govt. has agreed to revision once in 5 years, but the Jantar Mantar leadership's greed knows no limits. Pension scheme has been discontinued for govt. servants from 2004. I am sure most ex-servicemen are satisfied with what the govt. is offering at present. It is only this mercenary leadership supported by opposition parties that is asking for the moon. If the govt. agrees to their blackmail, they will come with something more impossible next. I think the vast majority of silent ex-servicemen who think it is a disgrace to indulge in dharnas and fasts for material benefits should come out in the open and confront these greedy leaders.

ORP for Jawans and not for officers by Mr Sudhir Bhist.
by Shri Krishan on Aug 27, 2015 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

I wish my views get conveyed to Mr Bhist.timings of this 'free launcher's, article, suggest that it is a sponsored one.My reason are:-
1 Extension of 2 years service on Retirement. Some colonels are employed in captains'( the lowest pay scale) vacancies which are limited and have resulted as an acute shortage of officers in the armed forces.did you try to find out the reason?
2 Does any other All India Service has that high percentage of shortage in officers category.Did his imaginary Accounts Officer tell you so,why?
3 Even with induction of lady officers, the quota of short service commissioned officers is also falling shorter every year, why so? not attractive.
4 Today most of the the graduates would prefer to become a police inspector than an army officers because of financial aspects, did his interviewees tell him so?
5 Less than 1% officers attain the rank of major general equivalent to joint secretary, which almost 95 % IAS officers attain, you should have known this before accepting the views of your sponsors.
6 Officers casualties in 1965 and 1971 wars have been the highest percentage compared to any other army in the world.
7 You feel there is not a single point in favor of officers, then how come the three parliament, five PM's and four parliamentary committee on defence did not get this point?
7 BECAUSE YOU HAVE JOINED THE WAGON OF THOSE WHO ARE HEEL BENT UPON CAUSING A RIFT BETWEEN JAWANS AND OFFICERS,which should be taken as an anti-national act.

shri krishan

Thanks a lot Sir. Response to your strong stimulus is as under
(1) This reinforces my point that Army does re-employ large number of officers. Not so for Jawans
(2) Yes Sir. All services have lots of gaps in terms of manpower needed and actually available. Judiciary services, Police services included. Shouldn't SSB relook at its selection policy?

(3)Induction of women officers is relatively new. It should correct the imbalance, but only partly. SSB needs to review its selection policy.
(4) No one can join the Police force as "Inspector". One can join as ASI, then become SI and then Inspector. If one is from IAS ranks, he becomes ASP straight. Your statement is erroneous Sir. And no one who aspires to become a 2nd Lt/ Lt. would settle for ASI position, unless he has lost all hopes.
(5) The point is very valid. I concede this here and now
(6) The numbers of Jawans/ Offficers who were martyred in the wars doesn't lead to higher or lower respect for forces. FOR ME THE ARMED FORCES ARE AT THE PINNACLE OF MY HEART AND SOUL.

Answers to (7) and the last point:
NOT supporting OROP 100% and completely would be seen as politically incorrect. Hence no MP can dare speak against it.
Your labelling my act as anti-national is your own view. I can respond to facts, not emotions.
I rest my case Sir
