Stringent laws are needed
by Suchandra dey on Sep 04, 2015 07:59 PM

Stringent laws are needed to stop such type of crimes as acid attacks on helpless women. The perpetrators of such crimes should be given the same treatment or death sentence so that it acts as a deterrent.

Acid attacks

The educated brutes will stop such heinous crimes only when they are given very harsh punishment. FIRST the Courts must order that acid be poured on the culprits also. SECOND if they survive, the Courts/Police must make them work in the house of the victim. They must be made to clean the toilets etc. They must be also made to pay 50% of their earnings, life long to the victims. All these must be also televised widely, to warn all the other animals on 2 legs. Soft laws, jail terms & reforming is no compensation or solace to the victims. The aim of Law & Police must be to stop the crime, even in future, by some others.

Corruption and population growth
by suravarapu gopal rao on Aug 10, 2015 09:54 PM  | Hide replies

The corruption and population growth raised by Kalpana Akka are some of the vital points which our Resp. Prime Minister should consider including in the Independence Day speech. Government Hospitals should also be provided with modern equipment and Doctors. We should also give education to all the children free of cost. Education also plays an important part in developing the character of a student, which will help the society, so that such brutal actions are reduced/ stopped.

Unfortunately the police forces are too ill-trained, ill-equipped and lacking in numbers to effectively curb crime in India.

My salute to the acid attack survivor .

Kalpana Ghodawat, you have raised the flag of life high. When most people resign to fate, Kalpana kept on fighting for going back to life braving all the hostilities created by the onlookers and the barbaric husband. But, there is a silver lining also. The Acid Attack Survivors Foundation did a great job in sending her back to the semblance of nornal life. Such indomitable fighters like Kalpana are the real heroins of our society, where lives of the phyically weaker gender still lie at the mercy of the barbaric whimsical husbands. On one hand, he will squander away the hard earned money of son and wife by drinking, on other hand he will dictate, how much and what the wife should do for living. In fact, in our lower economic strata, women are really at the mercy of men, because, the mens physical superiority decides everything in favor of men. As a man, I feel ashamed for such beasts. I never know, how such violent attitude can be combated. But, exemplary punishments are to be given by the administration. Our religious beliefs and values of womenfolk are the biggest impediments facing such stringent measures. If local people come to help the attacked or distressed woman, she will herself drive away such rescuers. That is why in shanties and slums, the onlookers stand in rounds to watch husbands beating wives and they discuss how much wrong the wives are & whether the beatings were exceeding that the women deserve. In such tragic circumstances, Kalpana is a whiff of fresh
