Why the author needs reality check
by ponvel nadarajan on Apr 23, 2015 06:31 PM

The article proceeds on the wrong premise that farmers rights can be compromised (by giving paltry money) and they do not have any right to earn living by agriculture. When such a large population is surviving on agriculture it is the moral duty of any right minded government to provide all it can to bring them towards development not destroy them. Today a normal labourer under MNREGA earns much more than a small farmer.

Why Rahul is wrong about the indian farmer
by anil khanna on Apr 23, 2015 05:52 PM  | Hide replies

I think when you start anything with a biased mind nothing comes out of it.I am no fan of Rahul but you have also got your facts wrong.Farmers may want to sell their land but is consent not required. What right state has to take land without consent. Moreover we need agro industries at the grass root level and cannot afford more dependance on cities to provide employment

Mr.Anil Khanna says that he is no fan of Rahul. But he says that consent of farmers is needed. The proposed bill provides that at least 80 % of farmers who would be affected should consent before land is acquired under the proposed legislation.

the proposed bill never says 80 % consent needed. Only the UPA bill of 2013 says that Please get the facts right

Bad Taste
by Aditya Misra on Apr 23, 2015 05:52 PM  | Hide replies

An article very poorly written out of malicious intentions. Ridiculing others is not real journalism. One does not need to be critical and offensive, it is better journalism when it is analytical and unbiased. This piece, whosoever has written this, seems to be too prejudiced and hence, I prefer not to read the writer's name. It would be better if Rediff discourages such bullshit on this page, which is losing its credibility otherwise among serious readers.

Mr.Aditya Misra ! I disagree. The article is well written. Agreed, it is critical, but not offensive. Where is the prejudice ? It is a sensible article. I would recommend that Mr.Rahul Gandhi reads it.

Rahul's love for farmers
by Narayana Kurup on Apr 23, 2015 05:36 PM

A very nice and informative article. In India, the opposition parties do not practice constructive opposition but stiff opposition for everything the ruling party intends to implement either for developmental activities or for the benefit of the society. The present acrimony over the land acquisition bill pending before the parliament is also one such opposition. In fact Mr. Rahul Gandhi was born with golden spoon in hands and he doesn't have any connection with the masses at grass root level. Before making foolish speeches to misguide the farmers, he should have made self analysis about the contribution of the Congress Party to farmers' welfare during its tenure. Moreover, it is an open secret that Mr. Robert Vadra had grabbed land of poor farmers of Haryana. In short term Mr. Rahul Gandhi and his party may get some applause from Congressmen but it is not going to translate into votes for his party.
