Mr. Modi is expecting in next couple of years India will have lot of youth power to even supply manpower across the world to work in various organizations! On the other hand he fails to oversee these youth of India, will soon suffer with cancer disease, serving the health insurance companies, cigarette manufacturers and business hospitals rather than developing the nation and working for the industrial development worldwide. Believe me, India will have the largest effected cancer patients in the world in the age group of 28 to 40 years by next 5 years, if the govt does not take steps in controlling this business and encouraging the innocent youth. Dear friends, is there a ban in India for smoking in public places? If so why is it still happening? Whom are we to complain this to when there is a public nuisance especially in Hyderabad? Any contact numbers / websites?
Tobacco & subsidising? If any Govt must impose heaviest tax on Tobacco right from cultivation to manufacturing of Beedis or Cigarettes & also Zarda because they are equally harmful one way or the other. However, Govt must announce award for 100% export of Tobacco products to Special Export Zones like China, Pakistan & Middle East. We must go on barter system for Business from Middle East, i.e. exchange in Crude. Thae plan will also solve India's problems on import of crude.

Yes. You are correct. What all we write/express in rediff is all nonsense for the rulers. If they make tobacco cultivation, cigarette & Beedi manufacturing costlier or ban, we will have protest from some Politician in support of Labor from Cigarette, Beedi & Tobacco industry. But the reality would be that he will be cultivating 1000s of acres tobacco & minting millions by controlling Tobacco board (very common with all boards like spices board, cotton board etc.) HOWEVER, IT MAY BE SENSIBLE DEMANDING ALL THE CIGARETTE & BEEDI MANUFACTURING COMPANIES, TO SET UP FREE CANCER HOSPITALS TO OFFER FREE TREATMENT TO ALL CANCER PATIENTS (AT LEAST IF THEY ARE DIAGNOSED OF CANCER & THEY ARE TOBACCO/BEEDI ADDICTS) THIS IS ABOUT THE BEST WE CAN THINK OF IN THE PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCES AND GOVT ALSO CAN OFF LOAD PART OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.
Tabaco merchants and producers are the main hold for bjp, if they touch them, bjp will not get any single seat. So if any one is really interested and concerned about the public and health, they should be able to face these patels then only we can expect the expected result
What is totally disheartening to note is that consumption of tobacco, especially smoking by Genxt has increased. Surely they are smart enough to understand the long term damage to their health and yet they do not seem to care. Attitude is the problem. What is further disturbing is that these smokers do not have any concern for people around them who are equally affected by passive smoking.

You are right. I have seen in Bangalore that public smoking is well restricted and controlled. There are even police vigilenece at parks, play ground etc.If they find people smoking at these places, police charge sheets them on the spot. Do we have a web link / contact the concern dept at Hyderabad as well?
They all must go, provide employment to everyone at minimum wages instead of greasing palm indirectly. Subsidy means corruption. Control unwanted population of poor.
