We are over populated
by aam admi on Sep 29, 2014 03:33 PM

we have short of land, if we still go on making Samadhies statues or memorials of every leader we will be left with no land .
Further can Govt pay money for such purchases when people are already short of basic amenities. Does it look wise ? Already many old victory symbols of invaders , made only after destroying local architecture, are looked by Govt. organisation in the name of saving heritage.

Ambedkar's followers to buy a house in London as memorial for him
by Navneet Bhatnagar on Sep 29, 2014 03:28 PM  | Hide replies

Question is how many more memorials we want for our leaders and where all?? Political parties of all hues and shades want a so - called memorial for their leaders. Dr. Ambedkar has a memorial for him in Civil Lines, Delhi ( erstwhile Jindal House , which was bought from the industrialist by the central govt). Still his supporters want a London house to be bought by the government as another memorial for him. Nehru family has three houses and three large public parks dedicated to them in Delhi. Ajit Singh wants to retain a house in Lutyens Delhi in name of his father, Ch Charan Singh. Relatives of Chandrashekhar wanted a samadhi for him next to Rajghat and not in Bhondsi on Delhi- Sohna Road. Mayawati wants the govt. to re-purchase a house in Chanakya Puri that had been purchased by BSP and dedicate it as a memorial to Kanshiram ( as if the umpteen number of grandiose parks built by her along with her own statues are not enough). There has to be an end to such hypothetical demands. The way we have leaders today, we will not be left with any space for the living persons. All usable land in metros will be usurped by the leaders whether dead or living. Navneet

Wondering why we need to buy the place?
by Srikanth D on Sep 29, 2014 03:09 PM  | Hide replies

1) It is not matter of Ambedkar or any of our national leaders.

2) Ambekar studied here, Ambedkar married here, Ambedkar visited this place. Gandhi sat here, Nehru had coffee here, Indira Gandhi had dinner here, Lal Bahudur Shasri had college here, Vajpayee did yoga here tomorrow Modi given his first speech here... such kind of places are about 1 million in all over India and trillion all over the world. How many you save for maintain for how long?
