before 1962 indi was not in good terms with USA.Nehru was behind socialistic patter of society even to day i dont understand what t was! and behind Russia and china. he remained silent when china grabbed tibbet.The Stalin didnt gave ant respect to india.later Russia some what line ant towards India after the death of Stalin. But chinas inversion never stopped to tibet it occupied aksai china pat of kasmir and part in assam. then nehru sent army with the great advise of Lt Gen koul General Thappaer and defense minister Krishn menon our defense could not survive for 2 days.krishn menon forced to resign against the wish of nehru and maharshatra CM chavan took the charge of defense minister then the USA be came savior. Till that our relation with USA so so.Pakistan was great friend prier to India even to day after the assassination of osama in pakistan
JFK had huge regard for Nehru for his international affairs understanding.
JFK once sought Nehru's opinion on Vietnam matter through a confidante and Nehru wisely advised him "Ask Jack not to get into this; this will suck him and America to no end. He will find his sorrow in Vietnam" The bluntness with which Nehru spoke came as a little surprise to JFK. However, he had to go ahead.
Later even after JFK's untimely death and Lyndon Johnson's tenures America found to its sorrow the wisdom in Nehru's advice. Alas!
Another great meeting that was not incorporated here is the one that C.Rajagopalachari had with JFK which was a remarkable one.
BK Nehru (Jawaharlal Nehru's Nephew) was the Ambassador to the US then. BK Nehru had serious problems with Krishna Menon as Krishna Menon ruffled every influential American's feathers in the wrong way including those of JFK.
Then C.Rajagoplachari had to visit the US and BK. Nehru took an appointment with the JFK for Rajaji's meeting.
Rajaji was hard of hearing in his left ear.
So in the Oval office he took the first chair in the line of chairs to the left of JFK's chair. Then Rajaji puts across India's case in such a lucid fashion in his characteristic brilliance and attorney skills, that JFK was mesmerised and kept on listening not only with interest but also with admiration to that extent that when the meeting was overshooting and his staff urged to conclude as other dignitaries waiting, JFK just shooed his staff away!
It is a pipe dream that many are harbouring that US has friendship with India. Their only interest here is to sell their products and make money. If they get other customers, they act against India, with the hope of keeping her under check. Now, the only friendship America has is with Pakistan. It is more than friendship, it is a crush, a helpless dependence, so much so they pump billions of dollars every year to that country and no questions asked. The smart of our leaders also know this, but we don't know where is the catch, they cannot express it. So the tango goes on of mismatched partners.

Because of Nehru's decision that he would take care of merger issue of Kashmir with India,Sardar didn't take up the kashmir merger issue. When Pakistan rangers attacked Kashmir, & Nehru was ignoring the issue.Sardar patel took up the case with 1st president of india & Kashmir was merged with India,after Patel's intervention. Nehru did not take care of the border issue with China seriously & lost the war to china & India lost Tibet. Nehru was involved in 1st finance scam of india.It was defence scam,involving purchase of poor quality jeep for defence & a brigadier raised the issue of quality of jeeps.Nehru ignored it.The brigadier parked all the jeeps b4 PM's office & Nehru was exposed.
Only thing Nehru was good at,was, romancing wife of last viceroy Mountbatten .That's how he trapped Nehru in ignoring Kashmir issue, which his daughter acknowledged in the biography of Lord Mountbatten!!
