Wonderful, reminds me of a visit to a small town called Dodballapur in late seventies to attend wedding of a relative. There many of the elders spoke of the degradation since Independence and how good British Raj was. Most of the points you make here were spoken by them, and it remains imprinted in my memory.
They also British police officer and British Judge were totally impartial and incorruptible.

While colonial administration had many plus points, the fact remains British period was also the time when famines became common place. The economic growth of India sapped and her share of GDP went down from 25 percent to about 3 percent. India got considerably impoverished and her very spirit was broken. Indians became cannon fodder of great wars.
Indian independence, despite partition, is the best thing which happened to India.
The Great Unifier. What a speech? Unbelievable, Unputdownable, Unstoppable. Shaking humanity to its core to wake up now. What a vision? Sharp, Focussed, Total No-Nonsense.
