That's Democracy for you.

In India CITIZENS ARE ARRESTED ON TRUMPED UP CHARGES AND DETAINED WITHOUT CAUSE - EVERYDAY and no one gets compensated nor anyone punished. That's the difference between a mature democracy and a wannabe democracy which is only "democratic" at election time.

On a flip side, what was a cost of getting justice in USA : "we were approaching $500,000 in fees". This kind of legal fees must be turning away many of those seeking justice. Which means US Democracy offers justice only to those elites, who can afford it. Thankfully, Indian Legal Fees are not so steep.

But low legal fees in India, or otherwise, (as well as money or no money) it is not always possible to beat the patently "wrongful arrest, trumped-up charges and illegal detention" cases in India.

But as a matter of principal the case proves that it is possible, even for a foreigner, to defeat the "state/authorities" in courts of law inUSA. In India the this sort of case would have been dismissed on the grounds of "State Immunity".

In a real "democracy", a person like Ms Krittika would NEVER have been tormented like this. The treatment she got in her school was more like what a poor person would have got at the hands of a feudal fiefdom in the dark ages.

This is another example of a colored person successfully exploiting the "white guilt" of the descendents of slave owners for the atrocities their ancestors committed!

Wonder how long white people will allow colored people to exploit this "guilt" like this!

Just for the sake of saying something and seeing your name in print Vikrant don't say it. It is better to say nothing and look intelligent.

Cost of Justice
by Zeng on Sep 18, 2014 11:51 AM

"we were approaching $500,000 in fees" - that is more than two times the supposedly huge compensation won. This is the cost of justice in that country, which would make people fear lawyers more than thieves. I am sure even after thier fee reduction, the girl will be getting few thousand USDs, which is peanuts. There is only one winner in this case and it is the law firm.

Krittika was innocent in this regard but who was behind the cyberbullying should be punished, who created horror to the teachers.

Indians are more respceted to their teachers.
