As usual, you don't need to wait for any event to occur actually.... Your stories are ready in advance... :)
Let Modi speak in Hindi in the UN since he is more comfortable speaking in Hindi than in English. The Russian, Chinese, Japanese leaders speak in their own language since translation is available. But let not the NDA and Modi overdo this language business and try and impose Hindi on the Southern states. Let the govt concentrate on Economic development as promised to the people during elections.

Why you are so un-secular?? His Promised economic developmental promise is at work already. Please stop your agenda of north-south divide.

Right said, let him speak in any language he knows and articulate himself better. I expect the English newspapers to provide a translation or English TV media can dub it into English for us who dont know Hindi to understand but are keen to follow and know what Modi has to say.
does not believe in the reports of the Census survey of India !
According to Census reports, the segment of the population for which the Hindi language is native is 38 %, not 55 % as claimed by Rajnath Singh!
Further, as per the same reports, another 17 % can speak the language with varying levels of comfort. It is perhaps true that yet another segment, very small though, can understand some simple sentences in Hindi.
That does not take away one bit from the fact that very large sections of rural (who are mostly illiterate or barely literate) Maharashtrians, Telugus, Bengalis and even Gujaratis cannot even understand spoken Hindi, let alone speak in it.
Rajnath is a representative of the rustic, uncouth, ignorant and highly prejudiced community of north Indians which has written it into its little brains that it can somehow someday derive an advantage on the national scene by having its mother tongue imposed on non native speakers!
It is from this community that the hilarious demand arose for conducting the UPSC civil services exam wholly in Hindi without any space for English !

in Middle east, 70% are keralites in indian expats, but they have to learn hindi for communication.
This is truth and for your little brain, Marathi, Gujrati, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Haryanavi are dialects of Hinid in some way.
Even Bengali, Assami and Oriya also learn easily hindi because they are already using 15 to 20% sanskrit words.
Now can you explain, how much percentage of Indian understand Hindi.

Piri: I dunno how much does 38 and 17 add up to in your counting system but in most developed countries the answer would be 55.

Piri: Instead of abusing me you can answer my original question. Which other language is understood by 55% of Indians. :-)

Well, I did not push the case of any other Indian language, did I ??
Did I ?
With improving literacy levels and the spread of higher levels of education (if indeed that happens in all the human exploitation ridden boodocks - especially those in north India), English would surely attain the true position of the link language and the most enabling language.
Well, Rajnath was lying and lying blatantly, wasn't he ?

What do you mean by "... rustic, uncouth, ignorant and highly prejudiced community of north Indians" . Are you a sacred a$$? always spitting venom against every other Indian. I doubt if you use your real name on the forum.
has to speak in Hindi, after all. The only other language he can speak in - Gujarati - would make him sound more awkward if he tried speaking in it at the UN (at least to Indians).
Not that Hindi and Gujarati would make any difference to the non Indians present and listening to him at the UN.

But you are certainly fuming at the use of Hindi. That means you aren't Indian and you hate India.

Wow. If someone objects to a person belittling the PM then you get upset, chandran? Bravo.
