Anderson

What was his role of this major accident, was he personally responsible for such tragedy. It is insolvency of judicial system, instead of providing quickest help in terms of money, settlement etc., they are more worried to book under IPC and criminal act few people. Accidents happens not done.
Still big complaint that none of the judge or Govt. has brought any reform/correction in the law that humanity is superior to any law and victims need touch of human approach-not this framing/booking etc.,

It should do what suits it best - publish sleaze, frivolity etc. These type of articles do not suit rediff's class....

BHOPAL IS 9/11 ON INDIA BY CAPITALIST TERRORISTS incl.INDIANS
by Kabeer on Dec 03, 2014 02:42 PM

To me this is the 9/11 on Indian soil by the capitalist terrorists. This is no different from the twin tower bombings except that it is very well disguised.

The objective is clear: to conquer the Indian agricultural market which is the biggest in the world. As it can not afford high priced fertilisers, Union Carbide was operating the most dilapidated and obsolete equipment which can give away anytime. In the US, the same COmpany for producing the same uses most advanced safe equipment. Keshub Mahindra knew this yet kept quiet even as a Director

I get agitated when people including intelligentsia calls it an accident which it is not by any yardstick.

It is about to happen anytime and this is known to all the top managment Warren Anderson and also Keshub Mahindra who were the Chairman and Director on the Board.

I admire the courage of conviction of the trial court judge who didn't hesitate to pronounce Keshub Mahindra, a Director guilty inspite of huge pressure on the court to exonerate him and all directors.

Companies Act clearly states that the Directors are responsible for all activities of the Company and this is stated and accepted before one becomes a Director on the board.

Safety measures were abysmally low and an earlier event already happened though not ended up disastrous.

If the Directors are not responsible for overhauling safety measures who is responsible, a supervisor who is managing with outrageously obsolete equipment about to cause a disaster anytime?

Union Carbide fiasco
by Bodh Ramdeo on Nov 02, 2014 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

It's not that cut and dried...

Due to Indian laws then, Union Carbide had to create an Indian registered 'subsiduary" with Indian partners, and was named Union Carbide India Ltd, with the Indian Govt as the junior partner in this venture...
The company was run by Indian nationals, so if there's blame to go around, then the Indian govt is just as culpable.

doubt the company was run by the indian nationals but under direct supervision of the parent company who were under total control of technical aspects and know how and they were getting huge amount towards royalties and technical know how fees. They can not escape the responsbiltie and they were not fool to shell out more than 400 million US Dollar if they were not responsible or accountable for this tragedy and Anderson would not have spent his balance life in a hideout .

If the situations were just reverse i.e. Indian CEO in US would have done this in US killing just one of their citizens,US would have h0unded him out and skinned the Indian govt

UnRest In Peace-Mr.Anderson!
by Ravi Mannethu on Nov 01, 2014 06:53 PM

Even in the unkonwn world you have entered in to,more than five thousand people dead in Bhopal tragedy will haunt you.Instead of taking responsibility of gargantuan human annihilation you skipped the claws of Indian law and escaped to US overnight with the nefarious help from Delhi's top brass.Still more than twenty thousand poor human beings are languishing in the ghettos of Bhopal. They haven't received ample compensation from your Company or the Indian Govt.So,Mr.Anderson you will fail to find peace even in you grave.

Anderson was in India at the time of the Bhopal tragedy and running the plant.
He was given safe passage out by Rajiv Gandhi, PM at the time of the Bhopal tragedy.

Congress has always supported international culprits be it be Win Chadhdha, Anderson, Quottrochi. They wanted Italian Marines involved in killing two innocent and unarmed fishermen to run away to Italy never to return back to India but due to pressure of the highest court of the country they were forced to call back them in India to face trial here.
