People of India and other backward societies pay a heavy price in terms of opportunity cost because they permit politicians to handle unrestricted work. Knowledge of most subjects has reached a level where almost all kinds of decisions can be taken as routine professional decisions, but these societies ignore that and allow politicians to prevent handling by knowledgeable persons and interfere in decision making.
Although attack on civilians by Pakistan is a well known seventy odd years old phenomenon, politicians have not permitted it to be handled through a professionally managed civil defense system. Instead they enjoy the plight of poor victims begging for emergency aid provided by politicians, giving alms like masters to slaves.
As long as average citizen remains ignorant, illiterate, uneducated, and unaware, this prevention of knowledge based handling of predictable situations will remain and people will suffer from entirely predictable emergencies.
