When Rajive Gandhi visited then biggest slum of Mumbai Dharavi; perfumes were sparyed the way Fakuchand did it Ahemdabad during the visit of Chinese President recently.
Issue of cleaning is big commercial business and lots of company get Municiapal and Govt. contracts but do not up-keep the city;they just loot and take the money.
Muddy Modi is a Gujarati bania will only think of looting in the name of cleanliness.
World Bank funds Mumbai Municipal corporation for building toilets in slums but slum toilets are the dirtiest and ugliest. Now even toilets built and maintained by Sulabh Internationals are sham.
All these are looting projects and BJPs heart is there in looting the coutries treasury.
My skepticism stems from the fact as to how we can get a clean India when our development model is skewed and lop sided ? The basic root of the problem lies in our faulty economic model aped from the West where we want to encourage a market based manufacturing economy in replacement of a predominantly agricultural model. With the result, farming is losing its charm as a productive occupation and farm labourers are forced to migrate to Cities and large towns in search of menial labour. This makes the Cities which are already grappling with over population and lack of adequate infrastructure, even more congested, squalor, filthy and unlivable. What can anybody do much when it is the local bodies which are biggest source of polluters by letting out untreated sewage into rivers and seas ? Everywhere you go around anywhere in India, you can see mountains of garbage, filth with street dogs, cattles and pigs competing with one another feeding on them. Even in the so-called Cities, many areas lack sewage water drainways and yet the Authorities illegally permit large constructions violating building regulations. In such a scenario,I just wonder how this Swachh Bharat initiative has any chance to succeed ?

You are 100% correct. The rivers are very much dirty because of so many Temples are constructed near by banks . Devotiese throwing flowers and garbage in the rivers.

Gandhiji was using his full dhoti in two pieces after the incident when he saw a lady without sari as she has washed the sari and was having only one piece of sari.Our top leaders should also adopt such great ideas and give their personal example in public life, and more good things to adopt from his life to adopt
This is not negative view but let Govt take pragmatic view. Every Indian certainly wants clean India. Let our PM ask 3/4 time MPs, MLAs why they did not think of Clean India in the past? They are planning 100 Super Cities & toilets in all schools etc. Very good. But did anyone visualise the fact that most of the Villages & Cities have acute drinking Water shortage? What kind of toilets are they planning? Toilets which do not need water to flush (even if we ape Westerners using tissue to clean ourselves to save water but exhaust whatever little forest cover left over) People in responsible positions must also think of projects in totality & not just orchestrate ruling party's slogans, to please/fool the gullible public & drag the issue perennially. Farmers are committing suicides for crop losses on a/c of no water & no support from Govt Officials on prices. It is always the middleman who is the king (wealth) maker with virtually no effort. Govt must have a thorough comprehensive plan to change the system & not just one single aspect. We need to think of Education,Schools,teachers,Health,Hospitals, Medical education,Drinking/Irrigation Water, Housing, TRansportation,Sanitation,Solid Waste disposal,location of Industries,recreation, parks,Vegetation,Wild life,Pollution, unemployment & many more. I am very sure no one in Govt has any idea on all these & everyone is going in his own direction, tearing the existing system into pieces, more than creat

Good msg. given by Modi, but Govt. officials must be accountable to keep cleanliness, biggest problem in civil life is where to put garbage, no one lifts.
