Waste to money
by Bodh Ramdeo on Oct 19, 2014 05:34 AM

Recycling time has come...every city and township must have at minimum one recycling center, run either by govt agencies or private corporations.

There many ways to utilize Waste....it can be converted to energy or recycled for commercial use..while making for a cleaner environment.

Dynamics of Waste
by ojama on Oct 04, 2014 02:35 PM  | Hide replies

The PM's exhortation to his country men to keep their nearby sorroundings and streets spic and span is laudable.

But, while giving this call, a few things needs to be understood on the dynamics of waste generation in the society.

1) Every household generates its own waste. Keep the waste generation to bare minimum level for easier handling and disposal.
2) Regular daily collection and carting of wastes from residential and commercial areas to disposal location for recycling.

3) Celeberate festivals like Dussehra and Diwali with miniumum use of flowers and bursting crackers to avoid noise, air polution.
Used flowers ultimately finds its ways into near by water bodies. The paper waste that is generated from bursting of crackers indiscriminately creats a big problem for the civic bodies to collect them the next day from different areas due to staff shortage.

4) Also, a country like India with 1.25 billion people is bound to generate tonnes of waste, the disposal and treatment of which on a regular basis calls for lot of financial support and infrastructure to keep the nation neat and tidy.

5) Propsperty and well being naturally descends on neat and clean society, boosting Tourism.

Those who litter the streets and the residential areas by indicriminately bursting crackers and other fireworks during festivals must be made to sweep and clean those areas the next day to destress the civic agencies during such times.

Good initiative as a Leader but it should not be market compaign
by SIBNATH PATEL on Oct 04, 2014 11:16 AM

Swach Bharat Abhiyaan is a very good initiative taken by our Prime Minister.Actually all public of India should be attached with keeping himself & surrounding cleaning programme. It should be taken as an easy programme by just try to avoid making dirty our surroundings. But For this The BJP has started marketing just like every thing they does is only good & no other Party or official can do any thing good is very bad.Converson of 50% Tatkal Kota into Primere Kota for eighty nos of train is totaly a wrong decision & has been taken behind the advertisement of Swach Bharat Abhiyaan.People should be careful of BJP.Actually Thios Party has no commitment for the Nation & Public rather it shoots for some traders & Buisnessman only.Thios Party creates rumor markets for the failure of the opposition govt only.Example Sushil Modi of Bihar BJP.

Priming a pump is ok, but the water pump must work
by Ramesh on Oct 03, 2014 11:24 PM  | Hide replies

The jump start to cleaning effort was required. At the same time it is necessary to understand why Gandhiji failed. The primary reason I think is that he was not addressing the problem as technological issue instead linked it to human dignity and social issues. Per an Indian Express article even Modi saheb has sentiment based approach to the issue, wherein he strive to accord dignity to woman doing the menial tasks of carrying muck. Such sentiments reflect noble striving, but do not deliver real outcome.

Cleanliness has to be seen as a technological issue and in terms of improving productivity and processes. The next step is to design administrative measures to sustain cyclic clean efforts. Then necessary has to be made for making those designs a reality.

Following Gandhiji is not enough, it will certainly fail as such emotions he brought forth to the issue are not sustainable.

There has got to be the right sentiment as well. A few years ago, but not now, Gujarat State Transport buses had posters on the back about Swacch Gujarat and notices inside saying "kachro bahar fenkvo".

Every word he speaks and every action he carries out, whether he does that in India or on foreign soil, his ultimate aim is to strengthen his own position within his party and to project himself as larger than life. Every speech he delivers sounds like an election campaign speech. Best wishes to him, on his image makeover from JaggaDaaku to ChaChaModi.

Politics

So long it is not made mandatory for govt. servants, it will remain politics, at least Chauki or Thana Incharge should be held responsible for any unclean place, so that he takes action on the concerned deptt, or public to get the area cleaned. Today they only see from where they can mint money.
