In Modi we have a really charismatic personality
by Jagdish Dubey on Oct 04, 2014 11:07 AM

Ok so there is a section in Indian media which for favor with the then dispensation, had made Modi bashing its most favorite line and going to any lengths or depths to sell it to media in USA & UK. They have been doing for the last 12 years with totally unexpected and contrary results. From CM Modi has come to become the PM on a thumping majority attributed by many to his campaign and charisma. These people have earlier gone to the extent of appealing to US govt not to issue visa to him. Unfortunately for them Modi has not only thrived but risen high on unrelenting and vituperative calumny. They are a highly frustrated lot, Mr Rajdeep Sardesai being one of them. It reminds of the age old saying about the Indian elephant and the barking dogs. Only the elephant appears to be in great hurry to deliver goodies to its master he call the people of India.

The single-minded focus which Mr Modi displayed on issues of good governance and empowering the private sector and individual enterprise, without any pandering to pseudo-secular shibboleths was heartening.

And lastly, the unwillingness of Western media and the US government to respect the wishes of India's voters and the decisions of its Supreme Court, and instead continuing to harp on the Godhra tragedy, while turning a blind eye to a veritable rogue's gallery of supporters of religious extremism from the Middle East and Pakistan reeks of hypocrisy and double standards.

Supreme Courts in India and the United States
by Varadarajan Ravindran on Oct 02, 2014 02:15 AM

The Supreme Courts of India and United States have not been able to convince the people of the free world of their integrity. The Indian Supreme Court under the Congress regimes delivered several unrealistic and impractical judgments that proved usless. The American Supreme Court delivered several troublesome judgments that interfered with the civil liberties of the people. The Indian Supreme Court does not deliver such judgements, however. The highlight was of corse the Bush and Gore election case, where teh US Supreme Court carefully put the wrong person as the Preseident of the great nation. The Supreme Courts of these democracies have problems with themselves, and sometimes do not seem to administer justice that is appropriate to the modern age. They stick to old provisions in their respective nation's constitution, whose provisions are rendered antiquated by modern science and technology. While the American Court talks about their funding fathers, the Indian Courts talk about old British laws that were applicable to a monarchy.

Do not think Modi was revisionist, he polity is constructive
by Ramesh on Oct 01, 2014 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

The reference to 1200 years wait for freedom was a real surprise. Yet, he also stressed on Mahatma, who did not subscribe to this notion. This contradiction makes room for genuine reconciliation, provided the standard of debate is raised to the level where the differences in perceptions can be meaningfully and mutually appreciated by protagonists of both perspectives.

Living under a King, of any religion, does not give subject political freedom; only a Republic provides it. Hindu dharma, with all its endowment, subjected the depressed castes to inhuman living. Freedom movement efforts addressed those gross inequities.

Secular life sets one free of all religion, including his own. This came forth only in 47.

Harping back to seek continuity appeals to sentiments of Hindus, but to base polity on such premises is fraught with serious risks.

Think that MSG track, to use Mr. Bhadrakumar-s phrase, was a great performance. Modi saheb was authentic in his dealings and vibes with President Obama great. This kind of genuine and earthy relationship can channelize lot more substance through the relationships than fine words can.

Why do Congress Party beggars and parasites comment on anything about India?!

India has achieved what it has achieved by using the tax revenues collected from H1ndu tax payers over the last 6 decades!

Only thing these Congress Party beggars and parasites have contributed to India is being a burden to be borne by H1ndu tax payers!

These Congress Party beggars and parasites need to S T F U and be grateful that H1ndu tax payers have never complained about their hard earned money being spent on pampering and supporting these Congress Party beggars and parasites!

You are the most racist/casteist of all: your comment on the Bangalore verdict showed it. You are only concerned about caste, not corruption.
