Saarc is useless

With a nation committed to terror. A nation with Blasphemy laws that humiliate and kill Hind00z & Xians, reaching out to such a savage country for friendship is laughable.

the question is what Islam wants. Islam wants all of India and the world, impose jizya on all who dont submit to what it tells you, dehumanize all others with blasphemy laws until you give in to its barbarity.

Inviting FDI
by Praveen Lakhotia on Nov 29, 2014 09:47 AM

Modi from the time he has become PM, has been touring foreign countries like Japan,US,Australia, or inviting foreign countries head(China), and pleading with them to invest in India. It appears Modi is not clear on the matter of China's investment in India & no investment by them in other SAARC countries. He should realise that China's GDP is over 5 times that of India, & their foreign exchange stock more than 10 times of ours, therefore their capacity to give credit/ invest is many times more than ours. Objecting to China's upgraded status in SAARC by Modi, when all the remaining 7 countries want it ,has exposed India badly, that we are dual way talkers. Also we should remember China neighbours 4 SAARC countries, therefore it cannot be said to be outside the purview like Japan,US.Moreover Modi pleaded with Chinese President Xi to make India a member of SCO as recently as in Sept 2014, when Xi came to India. Sreenivasan has rightly termed SAARC summit as a flop show, & for this both Modi & Sharif are responsible.

SAARC's importance
by Bodh Ramdeo on Nov 29, 2014 06:31 AM  | Hide replies

SAARC has been as useful and effective as the NAM (Non-Aligned Movement)...totally irrelevant.
Khanigriss pauperized an entire nation with its destructive policies...The idiot Nejru forgot one major adage..."money talks and bu!!sh! walks"...he and his venal party pauperized an entire nation with his destructive Stalinist policies, compounded by its institutionalization of corruption and criminalization of the polity.

TGhe Mandarins were far more shrewd...they unerstaood the adage only too well, and went for the money by becoming the factory to the world, and in the process, amassing over $4 trillion in forex reserves...enough moolah to buy friends and influence abroad, which allowed them to barge their way into a SAARC membership....while the squabbling infantile idiots in Elephantland are busy destroying each other.

No one said Cong proposed SAARC...
but like Cong's centerpiece NAM, SAARC too is an irrelevant construct...and yes, Cong did pauperize this land and kept it backward and underdeveloped with their destructive Stalinist policies.
That's why today China has rocketed ahead, because their Mandarins are can-do, gung-ho mensch who get things done, as opposed to the empty sloganeering that passes for action by a do-nothing, useless netadom in this land.

Not Geography
by niladri mohanty on Nov 29, 2014 04:16 AM

Clamour for China's membership proves that SAARC is not about geography. It is money and power that count just like we see in most individual life as we see in our society. Though Myanmar is a truly south Asian country it is not a member, maybe out of its own volition. A time has come to evaluate what India gained or given to others because of SAARC.

connectivity issue has become a litmus test for SAARC success
by Ramesh on Nov 28, 2014 10:01 PM

To expect that Pakistan would accept Indian initiatives on energy and road and railways at this time was incorrigible optimism.
-------------

The frustration expressed by Mr. Sreenivasan is realistic thinking but not positive thinking, as former Indian President Kalam would have put it.

As and when the road and railway connectivity agreements get inked, it will signal a real change.

To think China can shape the destinies of SAARC nations and give up on SAARC on this count is unproductive. Likewise the suspicion on the motives of late Zia-ur Rehman is misplaced since all decisions get taken by consensus. That all smaller nations rally around vis-a-vis India is healthy aspect of SAARC, not its limitation. This group dynamics is a check and balance which improves stability and effectively counters unilateralism.
