When vasectomy is so easy
by Jagdish Dubey on Nov 28, 2014 05:59 PM

Why should we opt for tubectomy? Just because ladies must carry all the burden and man only that of the master. Why not make vasectomy compulsory after two children of whatever gender linking it to all the benefits from the government. Sanjay Gandhi had true guts. e miss him so much whenever we talk about family planning in India.

now it is prooved that the deaths are due to contaminated drugs. in fact patients do not die and fall sick due to surgical complications in such a large number which was in this case. now why dr gupta is arrested and in jail when the culprits are others. the drugs are purchased by other commottee , not by surgeons, . who will punish them? such adulteration cases should be given death and life imprisonment.

SUCH RECORDS ARE SHAMEFUL.. AREN'T THEY??
by sreejith r.s. on Nov 28, 2014 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

I am an eye specialist myself, and i know it is physically impossible to do more than 20 cataract surgeries in an day even if you skip all your meals, but just go to any trust run hospital even the biggest and the famous ones.. the first time operating doctor also sits with a target in his mind by evening will put up a tall claim..."crossed 60 today..". in one hospital one of my friend's complication rate was high (2 in 100) despite being assisted and supervised bu senior consultants for evert surgery and was asked to stop doing surgeries. but does these trust hospitals ever follow any such criteria? lets be human and treat patients as human beings and not goats. do free surgeries .. but make sure in the process you are not incresing no of irreversibly blind people in india.
and above all these people get honoured at the highest level for doing this.
by the way these people are not so sensitive to human life, then do you believe, they care more than others for humanity.

There is a huge shortage of surgeons of most disciplines, in India of 125 crore people- 60% living in 6 lakh tiny habitations spread out over such a vast and poorly connected country. It is not only for record, there is this presuure of sheer numbers.

If it is not safe to do so many surgeries in a day, why does not IMA set the rules for such camps? After all, IMA is the association of doctors. Are these matters not discussed in the meetings? If a surgeon performed so many surgeries which is physically impossible, why does IMA defend his actions?
Someone has to answer for this tragedy.

by Gulzara Azad on Nov 28, 2014 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

It is really pathetic that the POOR are the victims since they are unaware of the hazrads of such Medical Camps. The care and after-opeartion meidcation etc are missing some time, then why these are allowed at all.
Let us ban these unless they comply with MEDICAL COUNCIL of India STANDRADS .

Do the IMA have any standards? If they have, how do they allow so many private medical colleges mushrooming throughout the country? Their only job is to protect the interests of the doctors irrespective of their actions. Can the IMA give out the figures of how many doctors are disqualified during the last five years?

I am also a an eye specialist. I was working in a trust hospital doing mass cataract surguries with almost no followup. I was amazed to see that one of the senior eye surgeon did 300 surguries in a day ,while comporomising quality and increasing the risk of infection . And than next morning only one doctor saw the postop patients with torch(ideally slit lamp is used to examine postop patients). Pathetic staff with no formal training . Sorry state in india.

Not only love for speed but also love for alcohol and drugs!

Many Indian doctors and even surgeons work under the influence of alcohol or drugs!

A majority of these doctors take a lot of pride in and boast about performing critical surgery or other medical procedures while being intoxicated!

The real tragedy is that nobody can stop them from doing this!
