From what I understand reading media reports, Sri Lankans put down the LTTE mutiny and desire to carve a separate country/ sought autonomy. Now how is this possible in a sovereign nation? Lots of Tamil residents were killed. LTTE in turn waged a war, used human bombs by brainwashing small kids and killed 100s of innocent citizens. How does this UN resolution help Sri Lankans and Tamils? Better come to terms and start a new chapter, find what needs to be done, open schools colleges and get on with life. No point in fomenting hatred in the forthcoming generations.

India is also having similar problems in Kashmir and NE states but we never resorted to such barbaric acts of Rajapaksha because ours is a civilised soceity. It is strange that our country's stand in this matter is contradictory. Why should we support such a barbaric SL Govt.who killed lakhs of their own citizens in the name of crushing terrorism. The stand of our Govt.is questionable without minding the sentiments of 8 crore tamilians in India. We will show in the coming elections.

painful but a practical decision

As bad as the civil war, its culmination and resulting deaths of 1000s of tamilians at the hands of Lankan military was, its also important for India to looks after its larger interest against China. So in that sense it was the only possible decision India could take.
