Price rise
by Siraj Sindhi on Jun 28, 2014 02:31 AM  | Hide replies

For almost all questions on price rise, the answers given mean that Govt is analyzing it and it will take correct decision for people. The question is then did they not have any idea or analyze anything about price rise when they were in opposition ? were they just opposing price rise for the sake of being opposition ? If opposition were real insight about the situation before why they still need to analyze after coming to power ??

In Britain [known as the most-enlightened democracy] the opposition has a ‘shadow government’ with a specific portfolio being handled by a ‘minister’ …. thereby arming the opposition with as much information and experience as the ministers in cabinet. Unfortunately, our opposition, while out of power, has depicted a strange predilection for holding the parliament to ransom [they could have contributed more with informed debate] and a penchant for coming to power. Had they debated in the parliament, they should have by now been well-aware of each and every problem facing the country and what prevented UPA from solving these. They could have then gone for implementation from the word ‘go’; none of the ministers, with the exception of PM, the HM and Mr Jaitley have shown the grasp of the portfolios they are holding ….. obviously, they will spend time ‘analysing’ ! They should know, Mr Modi [despite political compulsions] has an aversion for such non-performers and will not hesitate to show them the door!

its wrong
by manoj on Jun 26, 2014 07:32 PM  | Hide replies

its wrong to allow Reliance to make HUGE profits by forcing Indians to pay International price for the Gas which is India's national property.
Why not just import Gas from foreign if we have to pay the same price ?

When we buy an imported item, we have to pay International price. We don't pay the same when the item is manufactured in India.

GAS PRICE HIKE
by manoj on Jun 26, 2014 07:28 PM  | Hide replies

WHY SHOULD INDIANS PAY INTERNATIONAL PRICE OF 8 DOLLARS / UNIT FOR THE GAS, WHICH IS EXTRACTED FROM INDIA ITSELF ? ITS LIKE PAYING INTERNATIONAL PRICE FOR RICE AND VEGETABLES GROWN IN INDIA ?

strict decision
by on Jun 26, 2014 12:24 PM

unless the ploy to attach reforms with pain to the general masses and bounty to the rich class and those backed by CII or FICCI,nothing will change, be it oil ministry or sugar the same old bureaucracy will give the same old data and paint the same old dismal picture and the new regime will take same old path of bitter pill for the aam aadmi, my question is the wealthy class have made huge wealth in last 10 yrs sitting on about 10 lac crores idle funds, the various subsidies, tax holidays and incentives given to these pple is around 5 lac crores, at this juncture when the economy is passing through crisis, why this new regime is resorting the same old tactics of punishing only the middle and poor class further, ultimately this will lead to curtailment of various expenses like like health, nutrition and education as the household has no other option and this will create unrest in the minds of pple causing more severe health problems, the general health of the country will be put to jeopardy, can any country grow under such circumstance.Business houses the favourites of any regime will grow but not the masses. Modi projected himself as mass leader but punishing the masses for their voting him in. No Ambani or Adani cud have brought him into power unless the pple had not voted for him

Strict decisions have to be made.
by Raghunandanan on Jun 26, 2014 11:37 AM  | Hide replies

It is agreed that unless strict decisions are taken improvements are impossible. But these strict decisions should not drain out the pockets of common man. Facing the miseries during the last decade, people were hoping for a sigh of relief from the high inflation when they voted BJP to power,. They were not expecting an immediate decrease in prices, but at least anticipated a halt to the rising prices. Defeating their expectations, if the prices are going up again, it is surely a disappointment. The words "will benefit in the long run" is not a satisfying justification. Even in the long run, prices will never come down and history is the proof. Of course, by generating employment and development in agriculture and business sectors may increase the purchasing purchasing power of the families of a part of the total population. UPA has also tried many thing, which they said will benefit in the long run. How long a person like me who is almost seventy can wait to see and feel the "Ache Din" ?

Even Indira gandhi was strict and followed discipline, to got the babus to work. Changes in laws , constitution books which are sleeping for 65 years is need of hour. Congress got 8 years where no janta spoke, but last 2 years janta was awakened and will be alert, how can one expect all mess to be cleaned in 1 month.
