The MCGM has no right to do this post 30 years an action, for which the actual officials who allowed from the Corporation the Electricity, water, gas etc to be used by the people, now suddenly where the people will go, The Government regularizes slums upto the year of 2000 pre election because that is vote bank but this is not vote bank, only that these people who will be rendered homeless will go to slums and subsequently become vote bank. FOOLING THE COMMON MAN IS AN OLD TRICK OF THE POLITICIANS AND NOW THE MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER HAS ALSO BECOME A PART OF IT.

What is justice doing for the people who allowed the building to be constructed and the builder ???

What is the action of Supreme Court on Aadarsh Society which is also illegal. Why there is discrimination between the 2 - when both have illegal acts... Just bcoz - these flats in Aadarsh belongs to big corrupt ministers and other bureaucrats ???? Court to look in situation, compare and then initiate an action. Its incorrect to move people but instead then can penalize people by paying some fines based on indexation and appreciation, also which should not be exorbitant.

I hope the same treatment shall be given to Adarsh society in order to demolish it or To take over by the ministry of defense for their office use so that there can be reduction of manipulation by politicians , bureaucrats & their relatives in future.

These apartments are illegal and it is agreeable.
What is the punishment to officials who were in duty during the construction of these flats such as..
who gave approval, occupancy certificate, electricity and water connection, registration department and so on?

all the corrupt BMC officials who colluded with the builder are free. Poor residents who purchased the same are homeless.

Money should be recovered from the corrupt BMC officials who gave the clearance along with the builder and the residents compensated

With a raid of 5-10 BMC officials money can be recovered at today's selling cost of these flats.

Lata Mangeshkar owning a flat doesn't mean every body else is LaTa mangeshakar. Even if she is owning a flat in society then where does it mean she is defaulter?.. she has purchased it from the builder. The builder and officials of govt body should be punished who formed a nexus to cheat public....

Give me break. None of the residents of the illegal flats are poor. Poor people cannot afford to live in posh areas of Worli.

All flat owners bought the flats at costs much less than the prevailing market prices, only because all of them knew that the O/C will not be available and all flats are illegal - and they are at the mercy of the Govt to regularise the flats. Unfortunately, the regularisation process did not go thru and that is why they have to leave the flats.

So please do not call them poor. Even Lata Mangeshkar has a flat there - rented out.

SC very bad judgement will make construction frauds bolder!
by Vikas Bhatt on Jun 23, 2014 02:10 PM  | Hide replies

The worst thing about Campa Cola affair is that the citizens who bought flats paid property taxes, stamp duty, registration and still lose their homes, this at a time 25 years back when things were not as transparent as they are today. They lose it all while the crooked BMC officials who allowed this travesty to happen get away scot free. The officials then who greased palms and allowed this get away unpunished enjoying retirement fruits. The builder who cheated the people gets away without even a fine forget a jail term! The local policemen on duty then who looked the other way and the local corporator who probably knew what was happening but objected to nothing! For once the SC has missed the woods for the trees and has come up with questionable judgement where the victim will be send to the gallows and the real criminals smile their way out with no action against them at all. The state Congress Govt who is fighting tooth and nail to save Adarsh society for it's corrupt kith and kin and office bearers has no solution. No justice this!

True! I don't see any future for our children with this sort of system. Can the Govt give it in writing that all the illegal constructions will be demolished in next 6 months??
