Nearly four lakh Kashmiri Pandits were hounded out of their homes, due to this turmoil and thousands were killed. Some put the present figure of the number of exiled Kashmiri Pandits at 7.5 lakh. No commission or probe has focused on ethnic cleansing and the genocide of minority Pandits, which led to their exodus from the valley.
Both center and state have not made a sincere effort to rehabilitate the Pandits in their homeland of Kashmir. In fact no one has ever done anything in this direction. It is imperative that at least the next government at the centre with the help of the govt of J&K should correct this aberration.
it in not true that Kashmiri Pandits were compelled to migrate from valley. In fact most of the Kashmiri pandits were encouraged to migrate by Mr. Jagmohan, the then Governor of J&K.Now if they are willing to return to their places, their neighbors and village/ locality people will be pleased to welcome them. Hence they need have second thoughts and may set on.

Rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pundits is a test case of OMAR ABDULLA,S so called secularism & Kashmiriat .GOI in coordination with Govt of J&K should ensure adequate security for them by locating BSF/CRP/ARMY sub unit near the areas they are rehabilitated.They must be compensated by Govt of J&K for the loss of their property.A SIT be also set up to enquire into the cases of attrocities over them & guilty be punished. If SIT can be organised for GUJRAT & DELHI roits why not for J&K also.
