LTC be paid to the entitled person when due & claimed. No need for any supporting documents or tickets or any requirement of actual travel. save expenditure on clerks salary, office infrastructure, fuel expenditure, etc. if tourism industry is to be promoted give them tax benefits- region wise / season wise. Keep it simple.

A good work and those indulged in wrong doing need to face suitable action.CBI need to extend their presence in to state governments offices also. There may be many big fishes practicing more corruption.Union government need to give free hand to tackle those who are practicing corruption not only in center but in states also.If corruption is controlled each state plan can take up good works to help the poor and down trodden.LTC etc need to be scrapped.Only such benefits be given to army, navy and air force services. Many political members and govt officials are working with one point programme of amazing wealth and by practicing mass scale corruption CBI has very great role to play to check such members by putting them in to court of justice without any bias.

LTC - an umfortunate provision
by Ulhas Kulkarni on Jun 13, 2014 06:04 PM

Introduction of LTC scheme by the govt. appears to have done more harm than good. What is the point of offering a facility first and then going on a witch hunt to if it has been misused. The temptation to make a fast buck will always be there. What are you trying to fight? Human greed? If the govt. wants to offer sops for a section of people to relax and enjoy a vacation, this is NOT the way. While offering the facility, STRICT financial limits should be in place, instead of trying to control the expenditure through Rules and Regulations (like who is eligible and who isn't). If the govt. wants to promote tourism in certain affected parts, this should be done by offering subsidies to the general public (not only a section of the people) especially during lean seasons. This will also stop things like unavailabilty of tickets during certain seasons because an LTC block about to end. Will agencies, like the next pay commission take note?
