Checking Mughal Advances

Apart from Shivaji,

the Ahoms in Assam decisively defeated the Mughals 19 times and checked their expansion in the east which Indian historians seem to gloss over. The great Ahom General LAchit Barphukan massacred the Mighal army o Aurangzeb led by one Raja Ram Singh of Amber at Saraighat.

Lachit or no Lachit, Marathas would still have defeated the Mughals. Marathas deserve the full credit. The cycle came to an end with lightning strike of Peshwa Bajirao in Delhi in 1740. By that time Ahoms were thoroughly defeated and conquered by Burmese.

Majority
by Munna Hazare on Jun 14, 2014 05:28 PM

This is nothing more than a majoritarian mandate by the majority religious community. BJP has a massive mandate but it is also a very divided mandate in terms of communal faultline. Its like the MB victory in Egypt two years ago and they started browbeating minorities. We all know what happened.

Well written

No wonder the Western Liberals have been in a tizzy over the election. For the Western Liberal any native that does not ape them is primitive and they have been relying their desi McCaulyan slaves to derail a Modi victory.

Do not blame Macaulay for our incomopetence
by Varadarajan Ravindran on Jun 14, 2014 01:09 AM

In the sixty decades and over of freedom years, India should have taken advantage of the English language and ts developing higher education. Instead the Indians intensified caste system with reservation raj, stifled free market economics with license raj, and then crippled competition with dependence raj. Modi will rectify these problems in the long run. Let us not blame Lord Thomas Babington Macaulay for everything that had occurred due to the policies of the Nehru dynasty.

WLL! no need for mutual admiration!
by raman govindan on Jun 13, 2014 05:51 PM

WLL was intermediate technology! it had been superceeded by cellular and gigabits bandwidth optical fiber technology

we made no contribution towards them! we used bits and pieces of technolgy to meet our short term needs! our status in original research & in electronics, telecom has nothing to appreciate!

Rt from the days Nehru, no decent investment were not made nor in the local R&D efforts in those areas! the excise & license raj made investments a loss making effort! around for example a simple radio license costed about rs. 15 around 1972! and imported 2 band transistor radios around 10 times that cost! the govt. did not take into consideration the educational value of the radio & Tv and wanted average citizens to be ignorent!

we drumbeat our Bhaba atomic research center, Hal etc! in tamil we call it "zari angavasthram and javvadu pottu" and "no second saree to his wife" we lacked the direction and efforts in electronics & manufacturing! east asian countries took leap forward and left us far behind!

Very true!
by Grizzly on Jun 13, 2014 04:59 PM

Indians have to wake up and take pride in our culture and history!

Even the English language came out of our Sanskrit!

So the British owe their descent from trees onto the ground to us!

India is the cradle of the world civilisations!

this is a piece of intelligent writing with necessary facts put to support the arguments. Twisted history is a method we were being forced into. looking forward to the next part.
