Re: why ladies conductors are employed in long route buses

It is essential that women in India should have equal opportunity to act dangerously and even provocatively and still remain reasonably safe. For this they have to be prepared with techniques, devices and practice in self defense. Absolute safety is neither possible nor required, as even victims in backward society of India must share burden of removing its backwardness. The country is theirs too, not just as its victims but also as its owners.
It is very wrong to suggest that women should only do things that keep them safe against assault. It is better to assess risks and prepare to face them aggressively, including group actions and class actions wherever useful.
Right to be free like men should never be given up, no matter how much threats and dangers it involves. Right to dominate in society including dominate over men, should also never be given up by Indian women. Otherwise Indian society will always be a stone age society as it is today.
I have travelled in the city bus services of many cities in India and found that BEST in Mumbai is genuinely the best in the country, although there is much room for improvement and need for allocation of more resources. Also, Mumbaikars are generally more law abiding. This guy must have thought he was in UP or Bihar. Good that he got a thrashing from other passengers.
without going into the merits of this case, I tell of an incident in Delhi. I boarded a DTC bus which had a female conductor. The rear of the bus is for general passengers and the front is reserved for women, old etc. The conductor was sitting in her seat with her feet on the seat next to her which was the only seat empty in that section. I requested her to remove her feet so that I could sit. Immediately she started abusing and telling me it is reserved for ladies. I told her it is unreserved seat and she cannot occupy both seats. Then she changed tracks, saying ok, but dont touch me ! I thought who would touch an ugly woman like her, but did not say anything because of the lopsided laws we have in the country that favours women and not justice. Of these kinds of laws never helps women really in need, like the poor in slums, or the maids working in houses. I did not even make a complaint as friends said it will be twisted to show that I am fault.

This is a noteworthy case. Now media should not hesitate for sting operations to catch such persons.Or else every bus should be equipped with CCTV for recording and to address complaints to rectify system.Public themselves should come forward to improve system with out fear.

and yes Delhi is the only city in India, where the conductor sits royally and the passengers has to struggle to pay him or her !
For some reason, it looks to me as a case of bureaucratic high handedness, where all give dept work together to harass any citizen causing them discomfort. Probably the passenger argued with the conductor and driver. They got into push and shove. The driver calls fellow govt officials from police, and files a case with the highest possible charges. The driver abd conductor will get paid leaves to attend court. Their case expenses will be borne by taxpayers. What about the citizen?

What you said may be true, but here passengers are involved,so no one can escape. This is how people should come together to save our system

You don't push and shove a lady. You enter a bus from the rear door. If you break these rules in Maharashtra you should be arrested.
If you don't like them you can go back to UP or Bihar or north India or wherever you are from. However if you are from Maharashtra you can migrate to the paradise of UP and Bihar and north India and live there.
It is difficult for ladies to go out after 6 pm in all north indian states which is not the case in south, which also includes gujarat, andhra, tamilnadu, orissa, kolkatta but all other states are equally dangerous. so who have ruled these states since independence are equally responsible for the culture of rape may it be any party.

This is the problem. They go to Ganga for everyday morning holy dip, sooner they come back to home, torture will be started on house wife
1. BJP ruled state MP has been the no 1 as highest number of rapes. 2. RSS goon and rapist culture has invaded other parts of India like M'rastra, Meghalaya, Bihar, UP and Ch'garh... 3. Most of the rapists are the associates of the saffrn groups specially trained to terrorise like the talibans.
