hamas fires rockets into israel. israel has a large _muslim population nearly 20 pct. is hamas calculating that israel would not respond lest it is called communal? is hamas guided by india's gandhis?
Israel holds all the cards, has all the power. There is nothing the Palestinians have that Israel cannot take by force... except peace. The policies that Israel has followed for decades have not brought it peace nor security. Israel must change its policies.
Israel must be willing to give up the most, and must be willing to make the first moves. Israel must initiate a bold peace initiative in order for the Palestinians to give the only thing they can give Israel, the one thing that Israel says it wants above all others. Peace.
Is Israel willing to end its occupation of the West Bank, to open Gaza's borders completely to allow normal movement and commerce, if by doing so it will have real peace? If not, then Israel does not want peace.
Is Israel willing to withdraw from every settlement if by doing so it will achieve real peace? If not, then Israel does not want peace.
Is Israel willing to share Jerusalem, if by doing so it will finally have real peace? If not, then Israel does not want peace.
Yes, there are many who will complain that Hamas radicals will still call for the destruction of Israel. Do not forget that many in Likud and its governing partners call for the complete annexation of all of Biblical Israel, on BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER. The Arab radicals would find their support whither if Israel really demonstrated a desire for peace by doing all the things it must do to obtain peace. The radicals in Israel would find little support at the polls.
