India has historically been a source of idealistic(albeit not practical) philosophy. What the author is trying to say in so many words is that Israel should learn from the example of Prithviraj Chauhan who let a dishonorable invader retreat honorably(after defeat). Even if the same enemy later killed(with torture) not just Prithviraj but his innocent subjects too. Rather than the lesson of "Never again" that jews adopted after holocaust, The writer would prefer them to follow Gandhi's lesson of showing the other cheek. Surprisingly the author favors hard action by the week and insecure Israel of old but because of the effectiveness of the hard action now hands over the underdog status to its enemies. Despite its technological advantage(due to its own effort) Israel is still outnumbered in the region. If it follows proportionate response(kill just 1 enemy for 1 of its own killed) it will soon run out of men. If favoring the underdog was so golden a principle, Krishna would not have killed(sacrificed) barbareek(the most valiant fighter of the time who vowed to fight on behalf of the looser and ran the risk of killing everyone as he would have to keep changing sides till both sides were destroyed).
Just because the writer is stating historical facts his silence on the rocket firing inti Israel by Hamas is deafening. The author like all congress who talk about Gujarat riots conveniently forgetting the burning of innocent elderly hindu pilgrims, also conveniently forgetting massacre of innocent Sikh brothers, conveneietly talking of secularism forgetting massacre of Hindus in J

You are forgetting the fact that for the Hamas, it is a question of their very survival where as the disproportionate violence let loose by Israel on civilians especially children and women is not justifiable! Are you supporting Israel only because the opponents are Muslims?

Violence towards human beings or for that matter any living things cannot be justified, whether the victims are Hindus, Muslims or Christians! Gandhiji has rightly said that if you take 'an eye for an eye' the whole world would be blind!

It can be justified when the victims are the members of the most peaceful religion in the world. I'd rather share my house with a snake than with these sleeper cells. Period!
