Has he satisfied anyone, budget presented by him is purely bureaucratic budget signed by him with little amendments. It does not reflect SWARAJ or simplification and lesser paper work. If he does not have money to provide concessions, at least who stopped him to simplify and reducing paper work at least upto Rs.10 lacs income and small small traders/businessmen.
We empathize with Mr Jaitley’s Hamletian dilemma - FM faces unenviable task of pruning ever-INCREASING allocations demand …. by Railways or, Defence or any other sector! Tax-paying public should know the justification for this sheer ‘upward’ trend when accountability for judicious use of these resources remains limited only to PAC or CAG. Any questioning the efficacy of Defence Allocation of Rs 2.29 Lakh Crs runs the risk of being called ‘anti-national’ it is only in “national interest” that this huge money is well-spent! Army which hogs nearly 1/2 of it had returned unspent almost 16-17% of its allocation [Rs 13804.02 Crs] on modernization! Whereas, the Revenue expense of Rs 1.34 Lac Crs [salaries, pensions and consumables/recurring] a decade back was mere 27.73 % of Capital Expenditure [i.e. investments for future benefits / improvement, like ones on new aircraft, battleships, tanks, guns/rifles etc] but has now shot up to 142% [ of capital account allocation of Rs. 0.95 Lac Crs].Should defence services continue to spend a [combat] soldier’s salary/benefits on a host of non-combatant jobs ranging from mess-waiters, cooks, barbers, drivers/sentries at civil locations, to general engineering / telecom training and mere school-level education while these can be out-sourced with much less in western armies’ mode! Yes, we need a lean and mean army with solid punch ….. this can be achieved only by spending every

Contd/- .....this can be achieved only by spending every available penny on essentials and less on ceremonials!
During budget some politician & some defense personnel are worried about country's security.Other than defence sector there are other area too which needs attention and finance for country's security. So, no need to increase anymore budget for defence.Yearly 10% is enough for a country like us.
the army disappointed? all these days we heard tht the cong and others dont understand the military so the patriotic BJP has to come in..and now they too are preaching pragmatism? how sad! but then again we also heard tht only the BJP understands the economy and business. but we still have the retrospective corporate taxation in place.. and we are still allowing parasites and white elephants to live off schemes like the MNREGA ! and there again we r hearing the same logic about pragmatism and political considerations ! ha ha ha ! nice joke huh?

Sandeep do agree with your feeling, power only brings correction, MNREGA is the scheme I had seen in village that stopping this will depopulate the Govt, poor don't understand this, govt too know this , wait and watch game atleast for 2 years.
While we need more to modernize the armed forces, it cannot be done in one go. The good brigadier would do well to understand that India is not only the armed forces. It has a whole lot of other hardworking taxpayers who have legitimate needs. It is foolhardy to look only through the lens of one group of people. Doesn't the brigadier understand that India is not a money making concern that dishes out largesse at all and sundry? Non-faujis have a life too. In fact they are the ones who pay the salaries of the armed forces. And that is the army of silent soldiers that walks without demanding much more than its daily roti and a roof over their heads. Is it too much to begrudge that. They too go through hardship and pain. But their demands are a lot lower. The defence forces is just another career in the Indian mileu. There is no point in highlighting only their needs.

Are you of sound mind? True that India is not just armed forces, but the rest of India also keeps crying at every opportunity (just like you) and every second we hear these non-armed forces wailing over something. They go on dharnas, terrorise the public over morality and do fasts. When have we seen our armed forces go on these dramas? All the gentleman here has done is give the side of armed forces too in a nice column without doing any of the drama that people like you do every second of the day. And it is coming true every day now, BJP always said its the party with a difference. No one now knows what that difference is.
Just 1000 crore allotement for OROP is totally insufficient. The govt should not forget the silent role played by the crores of ESM and their family in the changing of Govt.
