If someone who earned Re 1 last year, earns Rs 2 this year, his growth rate is a STUPENDOUS 100%. While someone who earned 10000000 last year and 10500000 this year, has a DISMAL growth rate of just 5%. The moral of the story is that the "growth rate" depends on your current state of development. Perpetually DEVELOPING countries like India are bound have a growth rate higher than the already DEVELOPED countries. If giants like US, Japan grow at say about 5%, they will soon devour the rest of the world and China appears to be all set to do just that! Secondly, growth rate stated in rupee terms (and indeed HIGH BANK RATES in India) are not very meaningful owing to the inflationary pressures on Rupee.

Then we are going to get a RED country .. :P .. as rediff's map legend ..
If the source is planning commission do we assume that planning commission does not have figures for Gujarath Maharashtra and Kerala. Or is it some sort of censorship?

U r right, the govts of gujarat, maharashra and kerala were lax in submitting their data. That is why they are not here.
However, it is a fact that all these 3 states, have very high GDP and also good GDP growth rates.
Particularly Maharahtra, which not only has the highest GDP in the country, but also one of the fastest GDP growth rates inspite of the large size of its economy.
Zoom out the map and look at the rest of the world. No other place in the world is growing, except India. And this was possible just because Modi is PM. And people used to say that Modiji is biased against congress ruled states. But look at the rediff report, it is very clear that all non BJP ruled states have higher GDSP and growth compared to BJP ruled states. This clearly tells us that Modi is great.

another blind bhakth. Obviously Nam0 has fooled you into thinking that india's growth in last 60 years is because of him

THE POINT IS WHERE GROWTH IS THERE, IT IS PRE-INDEPENDENCE ECONOMIC STATUS WHICH BECANE FOUNDTION FOR GROWTH. CONGRESS GOVTS DID NOTHING FOR NATIONAL GROWTH. THE REPORT IS PLANNING COMMSIONS SWAN SONG.

Without denying that Mr Modi deserves all support, let us not forget that this data pertains to the period ended March 31, 2014 and Mr Modi took over as PM only on May 26, 2014. How can he be credited with this? Such blind adulation can make his real achievements also suspect, as did happen during the election campaign!

Sarcasm would have been had said "...all BJP ruled states..." instead of "...all non BJP ruled states..." So it's stupidity not sarcasm.

Dear Raj, these are figures for the year 2013-14, when MOdi was not in power. Please think before u comment.
Is rediff fooling the public by showing these manipulated data? If the data shown on this article is right, why India is in 4.5% growth and why the economy is in disaster?
Re: Foolish data
