In the West they operate Food Banks and Soup Kitchens; and also provide Food Stamps for the poor. We should have such social welfare schemes.

The governments at all level should take serious interest
by Jagdish Dubey on Jan 19, 2014 10:49 PM

in serving delicious, hot, hygienically prepared meals not only in all schools under the midday meal scheme but also under the others schemes also including the expectant and lactating mothers, children below 6 years and the senior citizens in homes. We can go a step further and include food security also under its purview. It will save tremendous amount of unaccounted for labour of the ladies of three fourth population which can then be put to some more productive work accounted for in national accounts and thus included in the GDP.
I have seen ISKCON kitchens and eaten meals there. They are good. But we can use expertise of out catering institutes IRCTC, mother dairy, Amul etc.and come up with most modern ones and set up all over the country with the base kitchen in every block and city from where packaged meals be transported to the distribution centres like schools, anganwadies and panchayat offices. It can be a major revolution. And it can be done not just an utopian thought.

Why can't this model be replicated all over the country
by Jagdish Dubey on Jan 18, 2014 09:34 PM

We can streamline the MDMS and schemes for expectant and nursing mothers and the children below 6 years of age also the inmates in homes for senior citizens. All the contracts should go only to such institutions or cooperatives creaed on Amul pattern for this purpose only. They should all be funded to setup modern mother kitchens at appropriate centres all over the country from where the food may be distributed in packaged form and reheated in the schools /villages or mohallas.State and Central Government should ensure that the payments are made in advance not only for rations but also cooking and distribution. Government can seek support from corporates and religious trusts for funds to set up the kitchens and logistics for distribution. I was all the time talking bout Amul/IRCTC and mother dairy. So wonderful ISCON has shown the way.

NO foreigner would ever donate in this open loot of yours. This is already a land of Philanthropists, wher more than currency, articles like flour, food , clothes, oil n even utensils r donated. U can shift ur shop to some other web-site.

WHAT GOOD work, talk practical. They r nt putting almonds in gravy. They buy cheapest available flour as well as rice available in the market. I DON'T WANT to disclose my identity, but if u comment further, I'LL put all the rates of their inventory N STORE on display. Its nt even the half of price what we purchase at home.

after 70 years of lavish luxuries provided to him by foreigners, he(prabhhupada, iskon's founder got the time to open his rotten window n atleast first time in his life saw a picture (without hangover)of true poverty in India. and got an escuse to loot the already poor people in collaboration with the govt. If he is really that much generous, he must donate to poor frm his own pockets, without asking the subsidy available on per meal basis on mid-day meal scheme frm Indian Govt's coffers.

DON'T tell me, I also operate mid-day meal scheme. I challange there's no mid-day meal scheme which comes into effect without paying 7-8% commission. For this scheme, U have to prove urself as an N.G.O , who has worked fr a minimum period of 3 years in non-profit operations for the betterment of society. ISCON builds lavish temples with 50 crores plus budget to get donations ranging frm 5-10 crores per year. Y doesn't operate this scheme absolutely free without looting Indian taxpayers' SUBSIDY provided to them on each meal.

What is your mid-day meal scheme name? I've been hearing serious complaints about Akshaya Patra since over 5 yrs now when I first time wanted to donate and googled what it does and is it authentic. I want to donate, but to a local school to me where I can visit and personally see how are they utilizing the money i may donate.
