Has the era of strong chief ministers come to an end?
by vidyasagar on Jan 12, 2014 11:26 PM

The meaning of strong CM will have sense only if it benefits the people. In this case, it only benefitted the corrupts and has no meaning.

Who is a strong Chief minister?
by on Jan 12, 2014 08:05 AM  | Hide replies

Strong chief minister need not necessarily be corrupt or have a hoard of spokespersons! A strong chief minister should be action oriented and not ignorant of the facts that pensions and other dues of the poor people remain pending for 20 years! A strong chief minister is not the one who believes in organizing senseless meetings and inaugurations for the party and insensitive to the people's woes! It is we who make the chief minister strong by strengthening his hands.

No the era of strong CMs and high growth states is not over. Just the era of congressi and leftist strongmen is over. As the article itself pointed out, Strong CMs of high growth BJP leds states are as stable as ever, Vasundhra Raje has now joined the likes of Modi, Raman singh Shivraj Chauhan etc. Perhaps the author is distraught over the weakening of the non-BJP strongmen(Nitishs weakening after breakup with BJP is hardest for the leftists to swallow) but the nation is elated over this change and likely to go on a even stronger high growth trajectory if Modi becomes PM. I hope AAP can also keep Delhi on high growth trajectory after congress removal but I have higher hopes for Bihar and Odisha if they join the NDA bandwagon. Time to move out of Nehruvian economics with nehruvian growth rates.
