Not an alternative view!
by Devadatta Bhaumik on Feb 17, 2014 11:45 PM  | Hide replies

This is not an 'alternative' view. This is the view of every religious fundamentalist or extremist who wants to ban and pulp books (and people) with differing viewpoints.

This has got nothing to do with religion its her own personal feelings portrayed on a soft target because she is afraid of people like you else she would push this on you too.

Does it occur to you that blind criticism of a religion is also a kind of fundamentalism?
Probably not. Now go back to reading Arundhati Roy

Classics need to be lived by with understanding
by Democracy on Feb 17, 2014 11:26 PM  | Hide replies

In the name of modernism, Marxism, liberalism, westernization classics are usually relegated
to museums and excessive market oriented dynamics are allowed to hold sway. But this is not
how civilization is supposed to work. We need to have classical values as part of our daily
lives with reflection, introspection, scrutiny and gradual change wherever and whenever
needed. This would be a sensible way to keep a sense of reverence towards things which work.
