That is alright but why is government not reducing petrol price to Rs 40/litre as global crude oil price has come down to $ 60/barrel and it is expected to come down to $ 40/barrel in coming month? Who is the exploitation going on ? Why is opposition silent? why is media silent?

The long process of contracting for oil supplies, refining and distributing the finished products has a lag. The new crude oil supply contracts being signed will surely have a lower price. But petroleum product prices are bound to come down following this lag. A more relevant question would be as to why the Reserve bank, in spite of being assured of a lower inflation rate aided by lower fuel prices is reluctant to cut interest rates, there by fuelling growth. Let us hope Mr.Rajan is being abundantly cautious, and will hopefully cut rates.

Om Shanti your query is right.It should be low as 2009 prices....but dollar prices are not same as 2009 which is another burden as we pay fro Crude Oil in dollars

INDIAN GOVT. NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT WASTING HUGE RESOURCES ON PEOPLE WHO DON'T REALLY FEEL FOR THE COUNTRY. THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PATRIOTIC POOR IN ALMOST ALL STATES ON WHOM THIS CAN BE SPENT.
