Banning is no solution other than inconvenience
by prithivi raj sukumaran on Dec 09, 2014 05:29 PM

In my city I and my family members often use taxi service like NTL and fast-track for more than 6 years. We always feel safe and comfortable other than timely pick up issues.
Off course I never used Uber and I don’t know their mode of operation.
Significant guidelines and operating procedures to be made other than simply banning the service.
I also feel this was created by local service providers to destruct the Uber entry in the market.

If Uber is banned because of the rape, why were pvt bus services not banned after the Nirbhaya case?? Banning cabs is not a solution...

I agree with your assessment, but the above person's observation is quite normal because what he has mentioned is very much evident and highlighted, even if someone wants to ignore it. Lady police officer shouldn't have been used to bring him court.

His real name Idris Rehman, a Bangladeshi illegal in India. They all change their names very conveniently once they are in India. Sultana Khatun became Mumta Banerjee. Happens all the time.

And your real name is Roger Chigumbura, right? Go search for your dadddy in Africa. You appear to be very frustrated, for obvious reasons.

The problem will be solved if Narendra Modi annexes the SAARC nations under the banner of the Indian Union in the near future. That day is not far off, given the high income growth in India as compared to other SAARC nations.

Here we go, the local vested interests after foreign investors!
by on Dec 09, 2014 01:41 AM  | Hide replies

Typical of Indian mind set. Beat the the foreign investor and his novel ideas to protect the status quo and local vested interests.
Yes, make the foreign investor stream line his operations and ensure that there are no more incidents like this. But, for Gods sake do not forget, your present system is corrupt, disorganized and full of shady people too. Are we to believe that the the drivers of Yellow cabs are whiter than white? There are any number of these drivers who are scum bags, who cheat, violate women's modesty and steal. These cabbies are the product of a corrupt system managed through local political mafias and Regional Transport offices & police.
Now, there has been one incident with Uber and the local vested interest has got its chance to start chest thumping. May we ask what do they do when local cabbies on a daily basis are subjecting consumers to a rape.
The ban in Delhi against Uber is product of a petty minds and grossly over the top and unfair. It will kill new ideas and alarm the foreign investor.
This is not to suggest that the alleged Uber driver or the modus operandus of Uber in hiring drivers should not be probed or the the weight of law should not fall on them. But, do not forget the culprit is one individual who got away by doing what the cabbies have been doing for past 65 years using fake licences, certificates and corrupt local bodies.
Clean up the whole mess and do not just blame or ban the foreign investors.

The difference is this. When I take a yellow cab, I do not think assuming it will be safe. But when I take a "Uber" taxi, I assume, based on their claims, that they follow the same rigorous background checking, and the ethics, followed in their parent country. So thats a clear case of criminal misleading - to claim a 'uber than the rest" service and safety and give me average or worse than the average.
