Iqbal was wrong in condemning Western countries for materialism. He had little idea how a democracy was to be run. You cannot run a modern day democracy by consulting religious books. These books may be outdated in most concepts and may not the value as claimed in the context of modern democracies.

We have gradually abolished pulling rickshaws in most states. However, the women activits would tolerate a "rickshaw pulling" civilization, but ban Uber and other similar companies because some one was raped by a certain Uber driver who happened to be a criminal. Fantastic logic!
The title of the article is ill-conceived. Pakistan is definitely a flawed idea as against a failed idea. When it will become the latter is only a matter of time; it came close to being declared one by the only power that used to matter so long - the USA. There is no clear power centre in Pakistan as is well known. Its polity is controlled by the army through a fae of democratic government. This is definitely an undesirable situation and has landed Pakistan is the sad state it is today.

Whatever has happened we cannot reverse the clock. We should learn from the past.India should be united and strong.Last 67 years Congress has followed divide and rule policy. We have thousands of years of matured culture which preaches "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".A strong United India is good for Pakistan,Bangaladesh and other neighbour.

We cannot reverse the clock but we can acquire all the SAARC nations under the Indian Union. The logic is simple: India is the only nation that can provide strong education, high economic growth, manifest mighty military power, and above all maintain a strong English speaking and secular democracy (in the long run) on a combinatorial Westminster and Washington style with a Constitution and strong Parliament having a president and prime minister (with no military juntas).
