People like you are unworthy and unsocial commenters, who have no respect for their elected MPs with clean and admirable reputation. Who asked you to give your absurd opinion? Vijay Monga

parliament is not a school.
by kabir on Aug 26, 2014 07:12 PM  | Hide replies

Parliament is not a school that you should start giving marks and ranking based upon attendance. The ranking should be how many people have actually contributed something meaningful to the parliament debates, how many people have brought something back for the population by staying at delhi, what kind of schemes they have initiated and implemented in their constituency. At last did they contribute to any change that people can see within their 5 years of representation. Thats is all matter. Otherwise someone like our current president who was in government, had powerful ministries and attended every session, but you could hardly see any difference in his constituency, people are still pulling rickshaws. :-)

SR Hari
Cut the allowances
by SR Hari on Aug 26, 2014 05:09 PM

These people must have spent crores of rupees to become our representatives. What use when they don't even attend the Parliament? They are paid lakhs of rupees as salary & allowances from the exchequer's money.

This is over and above the earnings from their regular businesses and "other" income as MPs.

Should the Govt pay them flat salary, allowances even if they don't attend the Parliament? Why cant they enact a law that these people qualify for certain allowances based on the attendance and more allowance for higher attendance level?

It may sound like class room scenario. But, what other job do they have apart from representing us, the voters, that too for just 100 days in a year?
