Dr. Man Mohan Singh's greatness
by Varadarajan Ravindran on Aug 19, 2014 08:02 AM

The free world did not have a prime minister or president of Dr. Man MOhan Singh's caliber during the last several decades. Indians criticize a smart Oxbridge doctorate even though India had one of the largest fractions of the illiterate and the uneducated. Indians rebuked him even after he made India a multi-trillion-dollar economy. Indra Gandhi, Rajiv and Rahul or for that matter, Narasimha Rao, did not contribute so much to India. Dr. Singh set a high standard so that Narendra Modi will have an incentive to be one of the most dynamic leaders. Imagine what would have happened if we were stuck for two terms or more with a useless prime minister like Sonia or Rahul Gandhi!

STRICTLY PERSONAL SIDE
by sekhar chandra on Aug 18, 2014 07:53 PM  | Hide replies

If you are lucky you will gt a job in Central Govt. Why people choose Govt jobs ? No need to work,no need to feel responsibility and no fear of loosing the job. MMS just did nothing but did Govt job. What is the wrong with it ? Like many of us do. He survived luckily for two periods.Very lucky.Have'nt we seen many people in the Banks just retire as clerks ? Just like that.

His education was very valuable to India. Imagine what would have happened if we were stuck with a prime minister like Sonia or Rahul Gandhi. We had enough of Indra and Rajiv Gandhi. After Jawaharlal Nehru, we had the smartest prime minister.

Dr. Manmohan Sigh is great fit of a saint, scholar and human. While he contributed enough to make India the largest third economy (GDP (PP)US$ 5.04 Trillion, the country gave him just rebukes.

You observation on Dr. Man Mohan Singh is the most intelligent. The free world did not have a prime minister or president of his caliber during the last several decades. Daman comes out as an ordinary girl of an ordinary father.Nothing in her narrative gives a potential glimps of qualities of a future leader
of a nation. He has not exhibited any and his autobiogaphy will be a dud affair.

Singh has done good work as FM under Narasimha Rao. BUt he did a lot of damage as PM, He allowed all to rob the country, India will never forgive for his misdeeds

Why not last ten years
by Vinay Gupta on Aug 18, 2014 08:50 AM

With the last ten years excluded, I wonder whether anybody would be interested in the book. MMS has been fiercely honest despite having had a family (unlike PM Modi who is a loner) and has worked very hard and sincerely (probably more than 12 hrs a day). However, it remains a mystery why he did not quit when he was not allowed to exercise his powers and discretion as PM. Was it greed for the office or loyalty to the party? This book could have thrown some light.

The comments that precede this are a tribute to him as a person
by ashok mani on Aug 18, 2014 08:02 AM

The comments that precede this are a tribute to the person. After holding such a high post for 2 periods and earlier as governor of RBI if people can only say this.......then it is a great tribute to this person for holding such a high post.

Anyone else would have books and volumes of misuse of power, scandals, corruption and looting.........

agreed that amidst of the sly and the crooked this man would appear 'boring and dull'.............

Well done MMS............

we are not interested in his personal side of life. Who cares? We are concerned with what he did or failed to do as a public servant. He was a monumental disaster as Pm of the country and history will not fail to write him as a failed PM>
