What could have happened
by Dipak Bose on Apr 30, 2014 06:55 AM

In 1950 there were milions of refugees came from Pakistan and were coming continuously. To accomodate then nehru could have send all the Muslims to Pakistan. He did nothing.
In 1950, when China invaded Tibet, Nehru could have approached USA for help. Nehru did nothing.

History needs interpretation with proper context for discernment
by Ramesh on Apr 30, 2014 05:39 AM

Korean war in 1950-53 was most brutal war, far more ferocious than even the Second world war. US pitted against Russia-China combine lost 40,000 soldiers in less than 2 weeks. This backdrop must be understood while looking at Panchsheel agreement.

India which had just won freedom was sapped by partition which killed 10 million people, divides its army into two disjointed halves, financially bankrupt and facing doomsday prediction of several western historians and scholars about balkanization into several nations could not afford to overstretch itself and face certain and dire defeat in face off for Tibet.

Nehru was a realist, and knew subterfuge was the only answer while India bided for time. He quietly put in place diplomacy to acquire advanced technology particularly in nuclear field. The complex and stupendous effort to keep India united and secular by yesteryear leaders must be appreciated. And only by paying due respect to those leaders, a greater and better performing India can be built by new generation of leaders.

Indians need to be better informed about themselves, and officers like Mr. Ravi have special responsibility.

Nehruji?
by Siv on Apr 30, 2014 03:30 AM

This one great leader has done more harm to the nation of India than the pak, China and bangasesh combined together.

And, his descendants are still continuing the tradition.

Had Modi or Patel been at the helm at that time,
by Vishnu Sharma on Apr 30, 2014 02:21 AM  | Hide replies

Tibet would have been under Indian Control and All of Kashmir would have been squarely under the Indian Boot.

What we need is a determined Nationalist, Not a defeatist-Pacifist-Marxist all rolled into one like that idiotic person who was our first prime-minister by accident.

Vishnu, you are right. Many years ago I read Dalai Lama's autobiography and I felt that Nehruji had to work very hard to lose Tibet to China on a platter.

But, then many of to-day's India's problems can be directly traced back to Sri Nehruji's whimsical thinking. He was nothing but a spoiled wealthy kid who was loved by Gandhi. raul reminds me of him.

It was Gandhi who appointed Nehru.
Fault lies with Gandhi and the so-called "Gandhian" who made the conspiracy since 1920 to get rid of all good people from the Congress. Gandhi was a British agent. However, the people were fooled always by that Fake Fakir, who used to live in some Maharaja`s palace and used to say "Karenge Ya Morenge". Someone asked, "what are you going to do". Immediately the Fakir went in the silence mode.
That Fakir was imposed upon us to do the job of the British, to get rid of the freedom fighters, to partition the country, to keep India within the Commonwealth, by a fake socialist.

Throw out the Congress
by outofstep on Apr 29, 2014 09:39 PM

I think it is time that the Congress was consigned to the dustbin of history forever. Time to bring in a new, dynamic and decisive leader. Time to bring in Modi.
