India, Wake UP
by Ariel Katz on Apr 28, 2014 07:25 PM

We continue to be bled by Pakistan as well as within due to faulty policies of New Delhi. We allow the Hurriyat, the Mufti family and Abdullah family to indulge in politics over security. We need to get rid of these elements if we have to make Kashmir and India safe and secure.

Feeling really very very Sad!
by Mayya Suresh on Apr 28, 2014 07:19 PM  | Hide replies

The sight of the kid....this is one photo that will stay in my mind forever etched. Very Sad. Major Mukund and the kid's sacrifice must not go in vain. We need to reunite Kashmir and must bring this territory within the ambit of the Tricolor. My message to Kashmiris in this forum...have a good look at yourself and your fellow-Kashmiris in Pakistan. You are better off if you are integrated into India than Talibani Pakistan.

Agree with you. But does Delhi hear this voice? Delhi carries on with Aman ki Aasha hoping for the elusive peace with Pak.

Actually, the majority of the commoners in India held Kashmir as well as Pak occupied Kashmir are no different from each other in terms of luck - both lead lives of extreme drudgery while the ruling classes, the military top brass, the richer business class and everyone else in the privileged classes on both sides of the border keep the Kashmir issue alive only to continue to enjoy their undeserved privileges in the name of keeping Kashmir with India or Pakistan !

Major's death
by N Sekar on Apr 28, 2014 07:17 PM

A grateful Nation salutes you and other brave soldiers; Can only pay that your sacrifices will not go in vain.

It was impossible to see the father carrying the funeral pyre and the child. If it of any consolation, let the family know we all agonize over our brave soldiers' deaths.

YAKSHA: BIGGEST BURDEN?; YUDHISHTIR:SON's COFFIN ON FATHER'S SHOU
by Kabeer on Apr 28, 2014 06:42 PM  | Hide replies

In Mahabharat, Yudhistir answers questions of Yaksha from whose pond of water four of his brother die for not taking Yaksha's permission to drink water.

Yaksha asks Yudhistir as he is supposed to know the most correct answers to almost all the matters in this mundane world
" What is the biggest burden in this universe?"

Yudhistir replies "the coffin of a son on a father's shoulders!"

One knows how true that answer is when one sees Mr.Varadarajan in the pics.

For the lack of statesmanship at the capitals of both the nations, Gawd only knows how many more brave souls have to lay their lives for no reason whatsoever.

No problem in this world of geopolitics is as simpler as Kashmir in comparison to Palestine etc., yet no solution seems to be in place inspite of more than six decades of partition, a meaningless bloodshed in itself.

As Atma accoding to hindoo philosophy knows no pain, grief, I desist saying the most oft said Let his soul rest in peace a belief in some section of society.

A young man has no need to lay down his life for a reason that is not but the buffoonery of the so called leaders.

I have a mixed feelings; anger or sorrow? know not what over powers the other.

Gawd be with the family

Re: YAKSHA: BIGGEST BURDEN?; YUDHISHTIR:SON's COFFIN ON FATHER'S
by Prem Viswanathan on Apr 28, 2014 08:38 PM
Well! Without being judgmental about the pains of a father on his son's demise, what you state about Yudishtira in the Yaksha prashna is factually incorrect - if Vedavyasa's Mahabharata is the most authentic version. While Mahabharata and Ramayana have been retold by several philosophers and authors through the ages, I have never heard of any version which has this answer to this question. You can google for the most widely accepted set of 18 questions and answers, but I did not find this answer anywhere. Can you please cite the source for your excerpt?

PUTRA SHOKAM NIRANTARM
A father cannot overcome sorrow of losing a son till his death.
This is what Mr. Kabeer is trying to convey.

My apologies; I (mis)took it from Islamic philosophy.

The actual answer of Yudhistir to the 8th of 33 questions of Yaksha is as follows:

8
The Yaksha asked, “What is weightier than the earth itself? What is higher than
the heavens?” What is fleeter than the wind? And what is more numerous than
grass?” Yudhishthira answered, “The mother is weightier than the earth; the father is
higher than the heaven; the mind is fleeter than the wind; and our thoughts are more
numerous than grass.”

My apologies again
