Indian journalists are fools who are hyper-critical of Indian politics. Fifty seats out of 542 seats is nothing but about 9.2% of the total. In America or Britain, sons or daughters of pliticians will contest in at least 14% of the seats (one seventh fraction). Indian journalists have a soft corner for white politicians across the globe. Western journalists do not have this attitude and try to address the facts as they are. However, their perceptions are often distorted when they are based on statistics provided by Indian journalists.
We are in 'Dynastic Democracy' and you can't deny entry of sons, daughters, daughters-in-lawand sons-in-law and many more relatives of the influential dynastic families. If these relatives deserve to be elected on their own and qualified enough to occupy the temple of democracy, there is nothing wrong. But the point is how many of them really deserve to be elected and contribute to the welfare of the people if their tag of influence and money power is removed. This is the point to be understood by each and every voter. MVSB Subrahmanyam, Raipur (C.G.)
